GTA 4 Modding Fix

Featured Replies

Seems that scripthook and advanced hook are broken with this update.

Here's a way to use the new social club and still use your mods with the game.

-Install Patch 8 from Rockstar
-Copy Paul.dll to a safe place, it needs a safe place
-Download patch 7 from Rockstar: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145406--May-28-2010-Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch-7-Title-Update-v-1-0-7-0-English-1-0-6-1-Russian-1-0-5-2-Japanese-
-Use the UpdateTitle.exe file and let magic happen
-Copy over the Paul.dll from its safe place. Yes it can come out of its safe place...
-Start the game!

Can u do this with the steam version

It should work with steam.

lol

What broke with this update? Has it made GTA IV any more stable? If it's just the hook that isn't working, can't that be updated so that we can have a better experience in GTA IV? Sure, GTA V is out, but some people still play IV.

Of course the ScriptHook and various loaders can be updated, it's "only" a matter of the developers wanting to spend time doing so. As GTA IV is less "locked" than GTA V, downgrading appears to be quite easy - which, in turn, is a much easier way of "solving" the issue.

Atleast for now, that is :)

Are only the people who made the hooks able to update them? Couldn't someone with more free time do it themselves if the creators are too busy?

I have two Paul.dll files which one shall I backup, both of them or they legit the same file?

You need to backup the updated 1.1.2.0 version of paul.dll. Replace your game content with the old, and put that updated paul.dll back.

I have done it now thankfully, everything is working apart from getting my bloody ELS to work! No sirens turn on which is annoying but the lights do come on.

Whenever i downgrade the version it always sets my video memory really low ive tried using the commandline txt trick but that still didnt work so i update the game version and my video memory was back to normal I downgraded the version again and the same problem occurred

If you get the Paul.dll file from patch 8 it seems to work on my end.

If you don't have GTAIV stored in its default location (C:/Program Files x86/Rockstar Games/Grand Theft Auto IV for retail copies, it will not work.

  • 8 months later...

Hi, I did as ADPSCommunity said and put the paul.dll file from patch 8 into the patch 1.0.7.0 gta iv directory and the new rgsc launcher is there and launches the game, but my multiplayer doesn't work, nor does it sign me into games for windows live. Can someone help so I can play online? :)
