pc overhating after 4 months

Featured Replies

pc data is in the file

i made a pc from IBUYPOWER and have had it for 4 months or so. it was working perfectly with no problems, i could run gta v getting around 63 fps solid. but maybe 3 weeks ago, i hoped on gta v and then i started to get stuttering. SERIOUS stuttering. i was getting at most 2 fps, and ill have to ctrl alt del out. it will to it with other games but not as bad.

i think i have determined it to overheat as it will go above 90 C in-game, and around 50 C idle. sometimes it will overheat watching youtube, which is horseshit -_-

i want to know why this could be from where it would work perfectly and immediately do this. please help, i cant play games anymore and i dont know what to do :/

Get a mini-vac and a can of aerosol, pop the side off the PC, turn on the mini-vac and set it down pointed vaguely in the direction of the computer, and go to town.

Do you keep your computer on a desk, or on the floor? Computers are like vacuums, and will suck up anything around them, so if it's on the floor, you might move it up higher, on top of your desk. Also, be extremely careful with a vacuum. Unless it's specifically designed for electronics, there is a significant amount of static buildup on vacuums, and could easily damage or even destroy your computer.

As others have said, dust build up is most likely the culprit. Additionally a broken fan could be a issue. Here's a decent video on how to clean out a dirty computer:

Hope this helps!

Lol, that is one seriously clogged up PC, I could imagine it runs like 30% faster after the cleaning.

TBH I clean my PC every 2-3 months, this one hasn't had it's side cover off in 2 yrs or so.

that video would probably help explain my occasional overheating when Im online and suddenly whole computer would freeze.. I need to make something up so 1. its off the floor more and 2. I clean it more often than I do...  I have a keyboard attachment for a vacuum, would that be ok for cleaning or should I go get a can of compressed air to clean it?

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MODS..THEY'RE CALLED READMEs   AKA read me for a reason

lspdfr plugin or GTA V crashed? find your Rage log in your gta folder, usually found after ragepluginhook.exe and open it, hit Ctrl a, open pastebin.com, select new paste, hit Ctrl v, get the link after you pasted it and supply that with your issue in the specific mod topic, it helps the developer diagnose the problem you may have.
