PC showing wrong graphics card?!

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I just recently purchased a Cyberpower Gaming Empire II and in the system specs it said it came with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960. I install GTA V and LSPDFR and its running so sloooooooooow which I thought was really weird. Anyway, checking my actual system specs dxdiag shows the PC as having a Radeon 3000 graphics card?! Is there a way that the PC could be picking up an incorrect graphics card somehow? Or have they really (strangely) gone and installed the incorrect one? Sorry if it seems a stupid question, dont know what to think/do! I have posted on both the vendors forums and Cyberpower forums but wondered if anyone here had any ideas about it. (No response on their forums as of yet.)

Thanks for any help!

Kind Regards

Sam.

The HD3000 is an integrated GPU on the motherboard, so it's most likely that the game or your PC indeed are not recognizing your graphic card. It might not be plugged in correctly or lack the drivers.

Thanks for the reply!

I've tried to download the latest NVIDIA drivers and it says they can't be installed because it can't detect the correct GPU or something along those lines! Is there a way to try and manually install them? Can't see why the game wouldn't be able to detect the correct graphics card!

Ah then that could be it! However, my monitor plug doesn't fit into the bottom slot, only the top one near the USB connectors?!

Sam

I'm guessing you have a VGA cable then? It's usually a blue connector. If your monitor supports DVI or HDMI, I would recommend buying one of those cables. If not, you'll need a VGA to DVI converter: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-DVI-Cable-Adapter-DVIVGAMF/dp/B000067SOH

A lot of graphics cards come with them - you should see if they sent one with the computer.

I do indeed. Seeing the picture on Amazon that you just linked made me realise that in fact, one did come with the PC! I sound like a complete idiot now haha but at the time I had no idea how all this worked! Thanks for the help though! Much appreciated.

Only issue now is that nothing is displaying on my monitor! Could it be that my monitor isn't compatible with the graphics card?

Kind Regards,

Hey thanks for the response!

How do I go about doing this? Windows 10 with a ViewSonic (old) monitor! PS. Also tried hooking the PC up to my TV via my Xbox One hdmi cable. No luck there either, still produces a black screen!

Kind Regards,

Sam.

Added info

There should be some buttons on your monitor that open a menu.
But seeing as you already tried using your tv the issue seems to be on your pc's side.
Also, the driver setup not registering the graphics card implies that it's indeed been built in incorrectly.
If you don't know what you're doing you should take it to the place you got it from and have them have a look at it.

Accessed the monitor menu, nothing there that asks which port it should be using. I think the driver issue was literally because I had it plugged into the wrong one. My main issue now seems to be the lack of a picture. Thanks for the suggestions anyway, I'll give them a call in the morning.

Kind Regards,

Sam.
