A few questions about Multiplayer...

You'll have to install the mod twice to have it installed on both regular GTA IV and on EFLC, just change the install path each time.

Any multiplayer game is very client-side so lots of your mods won't effect anything and you can still play with people who don't have any of those mods. The reason we attempted to make so many restrictions in multiplayer is so we could stop so many people crashing when they were relied on.

I think the DAS call signs are determined by what ped you have.

Official MP games just spring up every now and then, we haven't had one in a while but feel free to communicate with your friends or others on the forum to start your own games.

The way LCPDFR works is the same as it does in singleplayer. If other people in the game don't have the mod they will still see you chasing offenders, arresting them etc. but they won't be able to interact with it in any way (they don't get callouts, can't go into police stations, can't arrest etc.). It's better if others have it but even then it's not like everyone gets the same callouts. Essentially each person is running the mod separately for themselves but you're sharing the map.

Thanks for clearing up those points. Have +1 for your helpfulness

I noticed there's potentially a MP game this evening so might try get online for that (if there are any spaces).

We have a "on the spot" MP group where you can just post what time you'll be playing and organize your own game.

Here's the thread -

Yeah I spotted that one. My GTA IV is still downloading at the moment. For some reason Steam doesn't want to download more than one GTA game at a time

Nice! Thanks for the MP link too! You guys are awesome  (Although I am pretty miffed at whoever replaced the Lost clubhouse for a PD...I like playing a cop, but I'm a biker, we don't like losing clubhouses :biggrin: )

Just a suggestion. Head to your GTA directory and copy the "Grand Theft Auto IV" folder and name it "Multiplayer", keep that installation clean without any mods and then use it to play online. You can also use the files as backups incase a mod messes up your SP copy.

I'm confused - how does one play LCPDFR online if the multiplayer servers don't allow mods? I keep seeing people saying to save a "clean" version for multiplayer, but then how do you play the mod? Is it LAN only? What am I missing?

By "No Mods" and "Clean Installation", it means just LCPDFR installed. No vehicle mods.

Yeah, he did Player Match, which is the only way to create a custom game afaik. I even tried removing the .asi and .dll files from LCPDFR from the main game directory, and it's still booting me for mods. I have no other mods installed.

Should I be able to get in even with LCPDFR installed? That's what it sounds like from the forums.

Well, I just tried hosting and it worked. I was able to play with 2 non-LCPDFR users, who had their own mods running as well. It seemed to work fine. Thanks for the help.

It seems as if a mod user has to play a game hosted by a mod user. Vanilla servers don't allow mods.
