Crashes help

Featured Replies

Hi! Me again with some crash problem.

It's not only GTA V, it's War Thunder or Battlefield for example. After a certain amount of time (for GTA V it's 5-10 minutes, for WT it's around 30) the game crashes or I'm receiving a BSOD with different errors every time.

I took it to service, they said they found no issues. I'm even ready to buy a new CPU/GPU (but not a PC, that's too expensive), but I'm not sure this helps.

I'm completely out of ideas and open to all suggestions. Low power supply? Overheating CPU/GPU? Too many spy programs from KGB and CIA? Maybe some of you encountered this trouble before, or maybe you could think of something.

The specs are as listed below:

InterCore I7-3770 3,40 GHz
GTX-760 TOP DC2 (God knows what those letters mean. Taxation without representation?)
8 Gb RAM
Power supply ~500 WT (I'm not sure, there's no label on it).
Win 7 64-bit

Your issue could be an overheating issue. most cards are designed to shut off the computer at a certain temp to stop it from dying. So running those games could cause it to occur. Especially since it's running GTA V or Battlefield those are very graphic intensive games.

Download speccy and take a screenshot of the summary page while your PC is idleing, then boot up a game (GTA V for example, wait until it loads go outside your safe house, run a bit then ALT-TAB out of the game and take a screenshot of Speccy,

Make sure your PC is clean and your components are dust free (clogged up fans will overheat your components) Also make sure your PC has a good amount of airflow (this will help with keeping things cool).

Thanks for the reply!

I ran GTA V with Speccy and noticed that when idling the temp was like on the first pic. While running, it was like on the second pic. I was able to run about 20 minutes when it all crashed. I failed to make a screenshot in time, but I noticed that the graphic card was the same 49 degrees, but CPU showed 69. After the crash it quickly went back to 40. I'm guessing that could be it?

If your graphics card is at that temp underload then that wouldn't be the problem.

Does your CPU have a stock cooler on it? or is it an aftermarket cooler? generally the stock coolers are horrible for gaming. Also is your HDD getting enough airflow? Are the fans on your case that cool your HDD easily accessible (not covered). because your HDD is running at an unusual tempreture, 25-40c is an ideal temp however for me it's unusal to see those temps especially at idle. I've never seen a HDD go over 35.

If a HDD gets too hot there are chances that data will get corrupt and it will fail, Which could lead to the crashing.

Also, Whats your power option set at? power saver, balanced or high preformace?

Huh, that's not good, it's cheaper to replace a graphic card than an CPU :D

To answer in order:
1. Guess it's stock, I put no new coolers on it myself. Looks like a simple fan to me.
2. Umm HDD? To tell the truth I never thought those things need cooldown too, I don't even see any fans there! It's in the upper corner of my PC (below an image)
3. Again no clue. Could you please tell me where I could look it up?

It doesn't seem like it from your spec list: but just to cover all the bases - you're not overclocked are you? Those symptoms are common on an unstable cpu overclock.

I didn't do it, that for sure.

Your case is really dusty. judging by the layer of dust on the graphics card, you should really spend a good 30 minutes cleaning it. cleaning the dust out wlll help keep your PC cool.

Also your CPU fan is a stock cooler (stock coolers are the ones that are shipped with the CPU) They tend to be horrible for gaming, i'd buy a new cooler (they can range from anywhere between $50-$200 depending on what you buy).

is your HDD (Hard Disk Drive) the white thing in the corner? or is that your DVD drive? if that's your HDD (hard drive) then that's an odd place for it to go. That's generally a place for a DVD drive, And in all the cases i've seen there are no fans near there.

If it's not, Then is there a fan near your HDD? if there isn't then i'd probably get a new case. since keeping a HDD with no fan can be dangerous (like data failure and what not)

Your power options can be seen by clicking on the Start button - Control Panel - System and Security - Power Options

Oh, no, that's a DVD drive, my mistake, the HDD one is in the lower corner. I examined the place, there's a compartment for a fan, but no actual fan installed. Hmm, might be the case.

One last question, could you tell if 69 degrees is a normal temp for a CPU under load?
