Another laptop question, sorry

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a laptop to play gta 5 with (I could buy or build a desktop for it, but I don't have enough space for a table or desk to put it on.)

my choices were

Dell 7559 Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ / 16GB / 1TB Hybrid / 4GB GTX 960M

Lenovo Y50,15.6" FHD i7-4720HQ,16GB RAM,1TB+8GB SSHD,GTX 960M

or save up a little more for an MSI or ASUS laptop with similar or better specs

So, if were to but one of these laptop, can i use lspdfr?

If not, how long will it take for said laptop to die?

It would be much more worthwhile for you to build a desktop. Laptops simply can't perform well in graphics-intensive games like GTA. Are you sure there's nowhere you could possibly fit a desktop in your home?

Either laptop really would be ok to run, I have a 2GB 640M in mine with a quad i7 and 16GB and it's ok. But nothing compared to the desktop. The main issue you'll have is laptops can't easily be modified or upgraded and don't do cooling anywhere near as well.

So give it a year or so and you'll start feeling the laptop become sluggish or incapable of keeping up with gaming standards. (I had to do a full OS reinstall on mine to revive it and it's still not as fast). After 2 or so years you'll hate it and want something newer and at that point you start spending £600+ every few years on just a laptop.

Desktop builds are far far better, can be customised, upgraded and maintained much more easily. Personally I'd plan ahead more and try to make space for a desktop, even in a compact desk (just watch heat).

Unless if you use Bootcamp, not a chance, even then, as far as I know, they are wayy more expensive for much less.

Yeah. As most people say, purchasing a Laptop is pretty much pointless. You're going to end up wasting tons of money, if you are wanting to be able to run games even at an 'alright' quality. Even computers which are quite expensive are pretty much pointless, it won't take long at all before the next version of the Laptop you have comes out, and then the next, and so on.

Companies that make Laptops make a lot of money from gamers, because people want small, already built devices, and then they promise that they can run x game but in reality they can barely run year old games.

I say this a lot, but if you are wanting a Computer to play games as you are part of the glorious PC Master Race, then it's best to invest, find room for a computer desk, build up a god-like computer. Then you don't have to buy a Laptop every few years due to the obvious performance issue, with desktops, it's upgrading when needed, which isn't that often.

🕵️‍♂️ Always watching, always waiting.
