A "delete image" option

Featured Replies

I've been on this site for a lot of years now and It's really awesome, but as a screenshot provider I find it very frustrating that there isn't a "delete image" option. Every now and then I mess up and upload the wrong image and wish to delete it, but I can't. The only option is to report it and wait for the staff to delete it for me. I don't think it would be that hard to implement such a feature to this site, but it would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

The reason isn't technological, the delete ability is actually already in the software, but one of policy.

If we had a user upload inappropriate images, they could then delete them before moderator action could be taken. So we enforce that users cannot hide or delete images, so that sanctions can be given out to users who upload inappropriate material and that a log can be kept to forward to law enforcement, as in the case we had two years ago where a few members from another website uploaded pornography to the website.

Okay that makes sense - but wouldn't it be possible to for example unlock that option for users with like 100+ reputation points or something? I don't know. Thanks for clarifying though!

I'm hoping to implement a similar system that we have for the downloads system.

That is, you can hide your image or album, but it's still able to be viewed by staff. You'd also be able to queue it for deletion; which takes 7 days but allows staff to halt the deletion if for some reason we need to hold on to it (e.g. for evidence if rules have been broken).

The "hide image" option would actually be a perfect solution. Great idea! I hope we might see that in the future! :)
