Sign Petition To Have Rockstar Allow Private Modded Servers

Featured Replies

Hey guys... I had an idea today that might be crazy, but it just popped into my head. What if Rockstar sold private servers (Kind of like g-mod or minecraft) that clans could mod and then use for roleplay and such. The servers would not interfere with the traditional Rockstar servers, so players could play modded on them freely!

If you would support something like this (I know I would pay a bit per month to have a private GTA V modded server), please sign the petition located here: CHANGE.ORG

Thanks,

-Nick

PS: Feel free to leave any more suggestions that could possibly go with these servers, below!

There's no money to be made from GTA Online that way - Moddable multiplayer won't happen until GTA 6 is released (when Rockstar stops caring about GTA 5).

Couldn't Rockstar charge for servers that are modded. Games like G-mod and MInecraft have purchasable servers that players can run and manage! Those servers would then be private!

R* doesn't care about our desires to have modded things... they want your $$$$ and then to turn around and say we're gonna make updates to break your mods... sad, isn't it? What a pity.

Of course they want our money, generally speaking the vast majority of businesses and people you hand your money over to typically want your money. It's up to you to choose where you want to allocate your money towards, why people use "they just want your money" as a way of blaming them I will never know and honestly is idiotic to say. You don't go into a convenience store, buy a pack of bubble gum and then say to the cashier "you only want my money" then walk off. That isn't how the world works and sorry to say, the world very much revolves around money. Period.

In the case of Rockstar, they created a product that YOU as the consumer chose to either buy, or not buy. You knew what the product was prior to buying it. Now, did the product offer full modding support? No, absolutely not. Did any other GTA offer that? Again, no. They offered another installment of what everyone seems to love, straight out of the box. Now did they ever say they were against modding? No, again, absolutely not. Their business is to make money, they made tons of it off of the initial game and they're still profiting from their online component, which, again, is entirely up to you, as the consumer, to invest in. As a business you'd be dumb not to keep trying to profit from something that people generally enjoy globally, but again, you have the power to not buy into it - however other people do because other people have other preferences and ideas of fun.

They don't intentionally go out of their way to break mods upon release of a new content update, there isn't a secret society of Rockstar businessmen in black suits in a board room conjuring up the next content update and saying to themselves "hmm, what other content can we make to jab those modder guys!" Keep in mind that these updates are free no less, too. People are incredibly naive to think Rockstar purposefully wastes their time creating new content whether it be cars, heists, etc just to break the average modded guys' game. Not to mention that GTA V isn't the only game out there that updates their game and believe it or not, other games that do updates to their game that even offer full mod support break mods just the same upon a new update drop.

The 'Rockstar only updates their game to hurt modders' bandwagon seriously needs to end, it's quite sad.

All wrong, Rockstar sends Take-two interactive to do it's dirty work!

Not really. Take-Two Interactive wholly owns Rockstar Games so, Rockstar doesn't send them to do anything, it's more of Take-Two attempting to work in the best interest of the company it owns.

🕵️‍♂️ Always watching, always waiting.

This doesn't increase R money by new public wanted to play this amazing game on somewhere quiet and private place. They don't need some kind of commercials as it's already well known project. And what is more important they dont need competitions with private servers. Because people pirating that game right now staying offline and then with private servers it will be possible to play on pirate version online so there is no need to buy game. It's a huge loss of money. They will never do that so forget about it.
