GTA 4 graphics "locked"

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a MacbookPro 15" with an adaquete integrated graphics card and i7 CPU....I have bootcamp with Windows 8.1, so for all intensive purposes is a Win 8.1 machine.  GTA 4 won't let me adjust the graphics settings. This appears to be a common problem with cards with over 3gb memory - mine isn't in that category. I've tried running a commandline with all conceviable no restriction commands, which does not work. It's really quite annoying, and have even tried adjusting the compatibility  to Windows 8, 7 and XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've looked all over google for this and the solutions are not working.

Thanks!

I knew that as soon as I posted that I would get that reply...

Yes it's a Mac, and CAN run the game very well. I have a much lower powered mac which will run it well. So as I say, for all intensive purposes it is a Win 8.1 machine....

That is because it is true, if you have looked over the web for solutions and haven't been able to get anything than it should be safe to assume there isn't much you are going to be able to do. When you say you can run it "very well" what is your standard for that, 20-30fps? Also what gpu does it have because there is no such thing as an adequate integrated card that can handle games like GTAIV especially since its port is horrible only making it worse to try to run on a machine below the requirements.

It appears like an anti mac forum!!

It's an intel iris pro hd 6100; I have the Intel Iris (basic card) in another mac which ran at about 30fpd - adequate for my needs. It ran with a pretty high end ENB too.

I have ran it on my 13" Macbook Pro. I had the same issue with mine. You have to make a shortcut of launchgta4.exe right click said shortcut click properties at the end of the " in the target field put a space then -nomemrestrict -norestrictions just like that with the space in the middle. This isnt the one I used back when I did mine but this should work. Unfortunately not near my Macbook at this time so cant check.

Correction: Put a space after the last " in the target field then copy and paste those two like that.

Example: This is for EFLC but its the exact same thing that it has to look like at the end.

You're a star, thanks. Although I now appear to be getting a lot of texture loss in parts of the game. Again, now mods installed. Seems very odd. Can you suggest any solution? I suspect it is possibly linked with this....

As far as textures im not of much help. I was having that problem on my gaming desktop with windows 10 after weeks of no problems with ENBs and many mods. Suddenly one day I started having texture loss and crashes really bad. Reinstalled video drivers and it didnt fix it, removed some more recent mods as well to no avail. Put my windows 7 hard drive back in and back to no problems. Now I am ENBless though but still have the same core mods. I was running Eyecandy which from my understanding is pretty demanding of a computer. My MacBook Pro 13" has a 2.9 GHz dual core i7 with the 3.6 GHz turbo boost thing 8GB of DDR3 and an Intel 4000 integrated graphics card. I am able to run the game comfortably at medium settings with some mods.
