How do you catch suspects running away?

Whenever I encounter a suspect that runs they always outrun me even when I'm sprinting, is there anyway to slow them down a bit to at least be a similar pace to me? There isn't much info out there about it so is it a problem only a few people experience as I have seen people mention it on youtube vids.

Here is really your only options.

1. Hop back in your car and get way ahead of the suspect.  Hop out and Stun Gun them

2. If you download Police Radio Mod by FinkOne he has a Tackle addon that you can do by getting just close enough and Press E

3. If the suspect is a Fleeing type  dangerous suspect you could try shooting in the legs and keep hauling after them and try and catch up a bit. Be careful though as they will just get back up and keep running full steam.  They really should add on a thing where the suspect at least limps a bit, that would be a lot better, but its a part of GTA V,  I think GTA IV had this animation, what happened?

I am afraid those are your only realistic options you have

For non realistic option you can always go to your Scripthook V trainer and go to PLAYER > Run Speed  you will have no trouble catching them.  Just looks a litte bit unrealistic that you can run the 100 meter dash in under 4 seconds. You will catch up in no time ;)

Pretty much what Officerphilips said, although shooting the legs in also non realistic. I usually call 1-3 more units and they end up getting to the suspect

Thanks for the quick replies guys, I've pretty much just been either shooting them or hitting them with the car at the moment. Glad it's not just me.

Yep forgot back up lol.   Yes I do this as well, and sometimes back up can get ahead of them  just enough.  However, if they get to you, next thing you know you will have a 10 minute foot chase on  your hands because your too far from a vehicle, then you have to spawn another one.  At this point you have to ask  yourself, do you want realism or not.  If you want realism,  keep calling in back ups and have a 10 police man train running after a guy/girl.  Meh, I would rather shoot the legs at that point

When I get close I lightly hit them with the front side of the cruiser with just enough force to knock'em to the ground. By the time they get up, i'm usually out of my cruiser with a stungun on hand.

Just don't be like this guy (this almost looks like something straight out of lspdfr)

Also, if you have the scripthook trainer, turn on fast run.

Haha youtube gets me every time, I either up on the dark and weird side of it or manage to waste 5 hours without realising it. Well I shall continue 'lightly' tapping them with my car and tazing or just shoot em.

Haha i like that they out-run you. Makes it harder and more challenging. Use the car to block them, be tactical. Jump out when you are sure you have enough backup!
