RAGE CONSOLE NOT OPENING? Try this.

Featured Replies

***PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO MY MOST RECENT POST 07-Aug2015 for a file that SHOULD allow you to use the console.***

If you have the issue where the RageHook is not opening the console...I THINK I have found the culprit.

Try this:  Delete dinput8.dll (I think thats it)

Then download and install Scripthook BUT ONLY COPY OVER THE MAIN .DLL file.

Load Open IV and uninstall the two options in the built in ASI manager, the install them again. (This will in turn give you the correct dinput8.dll file back)

Close Open IV and try your game.

If that DID NOT work for you, then delete any files that you get with ScriptHook.net.

Try your game again.

let me know if this works for you!

OpenIV is a program you can use to modify GTA V game files.  It comes with an ASI loader which can be used to load your .asi mods.

If you had OpenIV you would find the ASI manager on it that allows you to install/uninstall the loader for .asi mods.

I would have thought that dinput8.dll would be critical to Script Hook V...what Script Hook mods do you have installed? Do they still work?

Personally, I use 'Player Location Display' and the Simple Trainer. Both draw their own menus/text on the screen, which would require a DirectX hook...which dinput8.dll seems to be, at least judging from the file name. I suppose I could try it, but my gut says that removing that DLL would kill the two mods I mentioned.

This involves replacing dinput8.dll, only removing it on a temp basis.

I tried this last night. It didn't work for me. I do not have Script Hook .NET installed.

There is a fix that work every time with the latest scripthook and ragehook :

You have 2 options :

  1. Launch the game, then alt+enter to force the windowed mode while the rockstar logo is on screen. Load the story mode. While ingame, alt+enter to return in fullscreen. (you'll have to do it every times you launch the game)
  2. Launch the game, in the options set the game in windowed borderless mode. Load the story mode. (it will work forever)

The 2 options makes scripthook working, and ragehook also working with the console.
The problem is when ragehook is launched in fullscreen mode. If the game starts with no fullscreen, no problem at all.

Ps : deleting any .dll is never a good idea :p

For you guys having the issue where pressing F4 does nothing, do this....

Place the attached file into your GTA V main directory. (Replace the file you have already - if you have one)

RagePluginHook.ini

I tried all of this.. and still the console doesn't appear, I press F4 and the game pauses and I can blindly type stuff in, but there is no console, and can't see the RAGE pluginhook stuff at the bottom right of the screen, the pluginhook is running because it loads the plugins, and I can type stuff in blindly but cannot see the console.. also can't see FinKone's Police Radio, my resolution has to be at 800 by 600 I wonder if that is why? Also I don't have the option for DirectX11 and the log file for RAGE always says Failed to Create D3D11 device and then says Fallback attempt failed. I am not sure why the console won't appear, maybe it is because of the screen resolution, but I have tried windowed mode, tried temporarily setting it to 1920 (monitor resolution) and still the console doesn't appear just freezes game and I can blindly type stuff in.. I don't know, anyone know if any of these things could be causing the issue?
