GTA V versus GTA IV handling

Featured Replies

Is anyone feeling like the physics and handling in V is kind of off or funny feeling. When hitting another car in V its like hitting a brick wall, and the steering and stopping seems hyper sensitive.

I am much more a fan of IVs handling, what are your guys' view on this, am I alone on this or do you agree?

I swapped the handling.meta from here http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/ but it still feels toyish, and I am still not happy with it.

Does anyone here have any recommendations, or are we stuck with Vs physics for a while longer?

Yeah I saw that while browsing around. Has anyone found, or is using something they like and would recommend? If not the IV handling then at least the physics, I don't think its realistic in a CVPI to tap and 2 door sports car, and you stop violently as if rear ending a bus.

GTA V driving sucks. Flying sucks too. Some of the best things about GTA IV was the more realistic feel to driving and that a helicopter didn't have autohover. I HATE the way GTA V physics are but I guess rockstar wanted a 2 year old to be able to play it.

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too.

I like gta v handling because it is alot like the other gta games iv's handling was a huge change.

i absolutely despise GTA V's vehicle handling and physics, did so the very moment i first laid hands on it back on the ps3. it felt incredibly arcade-y, as if the cars had zero weight to them. suspension's so unrealistically tight, you can practically hit a 90° turn at 100 miles an hour, nail it and barely even hear your tires screech, never mind seeing the rear buck. hit a wall at top-speed and you may just end up with a shattered headlight IF you're ALL out of luck.

now i know GTA IV's car handling wasn't without fault, but damn, if you hit a wall at high rates of speed, you're liable to kiss that car goodbye. which is realistic! the cars had proper weight to them, the rear swings around if you take a sharp turn, granted a bit too much due to the game's superlight suspension, but it felt significantly more like the real deal in comparison to GTA V.

There has been a mod for this somewhere. I think it was this one: https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/gta-iv-style-handling-mod-for-gta-v
Quite odd that this also includes some other things, but it's better than nothing.

but now to the best part, with the above mod GTA V's and IV's handling combine for an all-around better experience behind the wheel. the cars feel weightier, collisions deal appropriate damage, your rear'll swing out if you take a tight turn, especially if you force it with a handbrake to drift into the curve, but the suspension's not as exaggerated as was the case with GTA IV.  i can wholeheartedly recommend it.

So the above mentioned mod is worth looking at? I just hate that the steering is so damn sensitive and overzealous using a Xbox controller and in IV I loved it.

Will this provide more realistic inertia. The thing that irks me the most is when driving a car that's LARGER than whatever I hit, say a 4-door vs a Prius in game, if it collide with that at 70mph in game, I stop cold and he barely moves. So irritating.

Thanks for the info guys!

at the risk of repeating myself; i was a big fan of GTA IV's driving mechanics, hated V's mechanics for just about the same reasons you did and then some and i STILL came to the conclusion that this mod combines both the games pro-points regarding driving mechanis for better results.

so yes, this mod is well worth it. installation's easy too.
