They did state "game mods are by definition unauthorized". That's not opinion.

Very true. I should also bring up this message from Rockstar support.

If cosmetic mods are not bannable then where is the line drawn?

Again back to my point about opinion. You're not right and I'm not right. We can only speculate as to what Rockstar deems right and wrong.

I dont get why Rockstar isnt able to release something like a dedicated server version or whatever the heck you call it. If im going to setup my own server for me and my friends its up to me whats all

  • RIP Headphone users :(

  • I understand that, but the modifying of the Scripthook is unauthorized. GTA O is not the same as GTA IV Multiplayer, it should be kept free from mods as long as it goes. You might be surprised to hear

Wonderful how they're contradicting themselves a bit :P

Right I mean it leaves players to their own devices. I definitely agree with you to the extent that modding in general should be kept from GTAO but I also think that until Rockstar releases a broad statement in regards to "Don't use ANY mods online PERIOD" we the players will never know what their TRUE policies of online modification are. I for one think using a trainer on GTAO defeats the purpose of playing online and should be a bannable offense. On the other hand I think that punishments should be focused on players abusing Money,Cars,Statistic or other players. Then again who am I but just a player though.  Anyways I will continue to abide by the Forums rules and not try and start a ruckus over all this. Definitely loved the feedback though ineseri.

As far as I've understood, cosmetic mods are okay, gameplay interfering mods are not.

Cosmetic would be as in FOV, Textures, Visualsettings etc. A police mod tampers with the game mechanics and is therefore not allowed. If you don't believe me, go ahead and shoot R* an E-Mail. And yes, even if it's only in a private session, since the stats/ammo/money are global and not bound to a single server/session.

What gameplay am I interfering with if I am in a solo session? What am I able to do with these mods that would be considered interfering if I am playing by myself? I am not interfering with the ingame cash, Vehicle mechanics nor am I messing with other players? I would love to shoot them an email if you could provide one for me. Would like them to put this argument to rest already. They don't have a clear statement on what is considered game interfering so we can both speculate on what that means forever.

Google Defines Interfering as "(of a person) tending to interfere in other people's affairs" I can speculate that Rockstar means using mods that interfere with other people.

I dont get why Rockstar isnt able to release something like a dedicated server version or whatever the heck you call it. If im going to setup my own server for me and my friends its up to me whats allowed and whats not. Thats the only real solution to make all sides happy. The public online GTA:O could stay Mod-free and the private owned servers can do whatever they want. Easy solution for a stupid problem that shouldnt exist. But i guess rockstar is never ever going that way cause this would seperate people from their servers.

We will just have to see what the future holds in terms of what the modding community can do to get around rockstars servers.
