Did underground feature the ability to drive police vehicles?

No. the big thing with the underground NFS`s was the good customization for the time and it was about illegastreet racing.Which makes for a much appealing game. Atleast for me and many others. However, The ability to be a cop is something that NFS has implemented many times in its game since the last Underground game launched in 2004.So i would not be surprised if it is in this one as well.

Well unless its confirmed to have Police Vehicles as usable that's a strong definite no.

As far as I know only Hot Pursuit and Rivals allows you to drive police vehicles. Carbon, Undercover and the rest don't. Regardless, it looks pretty cool. I want to tune up some JDM cars!

I'm not decided yet about this game. I'm a big fan of the good old NFS (I played countless hours on NFSU 1 & 2 and Most Wanted (the first one, not the crappy one)), but one small teaser of 30 seconds made of CGI is not enough to give me an definite opinion on this game. Especially when we know it's still EA behind the game, the editor who destroyed many licenses like the Sims or SimCity or the incoming Battlefront, etc.

To me, this game will have to have the following arguments to expect convincing me to buy it: it must have regular cars, and not always supercars, good customization and not 3 bodykits and a few paintjobs, illegal street racing atmosphere and not super rich dudes gathering for a race, cop chases (don't care if I can't be a cop) and a good OST (Most Wanted had the best OST of all NFS games IMO).

Well unless its confirmed to have Police Vehicles as usable that's a strong definite no.

The NFS games were originally never made for the player to play as a cop, what did you exactly expect? Not everything is about being a cop, sometimes you've to be more open about other kinds of games.

Yeah that was just a teaser so its not gonna reveal a whole lot.I definitely think this may be the closest thing to the Underground NFS`s since they came out.I read a interview with one of the main people from Ghost games (The ppl making NFS these days) a while back and it said that he acknowledged the fact that people wanted a new Underground NFS and if he knew it would sell a ton of copies he would make it. I just like to think they maybe he will be smarter then the people that were making the other crap NFS`s over the last 7 years.

Need for speed High Stakes (PS1) was the first racing game i ever played and i would love to be proud of the series again. I`m not expecting it to live up to Forza but it could at least try. And you could be a cop in that one.Which was awesome. Used to sit in my 16 Bit caprice on the side of that Canadian highway and pulling traffic over for hours when i was a kid.It was great.

Need for Speed High Stakes, Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 were my favorites of the series.  Most Wanted still has some of the best police radio chatter in a game IMO

I'm pleased to see that the police vehicle of choice is a CVPI.  I'll probably wait for more gameplay footage before I make a purchase decision though.
