OMG COPS ARE GOING CRAZY THEY ALL BAD!

Featured Replies

All of that data equates to "we only do horrible things SOMETIMES, so any criticism isn't valid".

Cops play by different rules in our country. The amount of unarmed people killed and maimed by police is absurd. There's a new video every day of an unarmed person being shot, beaten, or tased to death. Does that sit well with you guys? This is a real issue, and does not make some "anti-cop" for pointing that out. You can have great respect for the work that cops do but still want them to be held to high standards. The cops in my small town are absolutely lovely people. They play basketball with kids at the park and have a good relationship with the community. But unlike others, I am willing to look past the version of the world that has been put before me.

Those FBI statistics rely on voluntary self-reporting and therefore are not accurate representations of the kind of abuse and misconduct that happen daily.

And FinKone, I love your videos man. I'm sad to see that you think anyone is seriously saying "OMG COPS ARE GOING CRAZY THEY ALL BAD!". That's a very simplistic view of an issue for someone as intelligent as yourself.

I'm not even sure how this is almost turning into a debate.  It was meant to show that even based off all these nasty facts and stats that cops really are not wolves that people/media make them out to be... Baltimore City boasts a employee count of 3000 sworn roughly, its the I -think- the 8th largest department in the US.  If one of those 3000 mess up, you can beat someones going to record it.

So, in response - no its not (in terms of it being simplistic) - your statement is just your opinion, as with mine, is just mine.  The media is enjoying the high-traction life of police lately because it sells so well.  When I saw this video I was rather happy to see something positive.  A title of a thread hardly supplies my view of a issue that could be talked about till anyone is blue in the face.

As for us truly knowing about the statistics the FBI has, I don't work for them.  Do you? ;)

With any elevated position, when something bad, corrupt or wrong happens - its head line news.  I read articles about Police Officers dying all the time, but I can rarely say I see them get even a fraction of the air time of a black man that was beaten by a white Police Officer (which some how is always made instantly racial, even anyone just reading that line, for whatever reason - "racist remark" most likely pop'd into their head).  We will always have corrupt and even evil people in the position of power, there is no way around that.  We've just got to weed them out - but it doesn't mean that Police in a general term deserve to be painted in this bad lime-light.  My computer is safe at my house when I go out because of Police, good or bad.  :|

God - I hope I don't get robbed soon or I'll have to retract that last sentence.  This isn't a personal attack on you or anything, or even my full fledged opinion on the matter of good cop / bad cop.  This is just me sharing a informational video, that I personally enjoyed, with a rather 'touchy' title to it.  Thanks for showing support with the videos I look forward to bringin' ya more, I hope you don't take anything in my reply personal, or aggressive.  I wasn't trying to apply either to this reply.

Help my channel grow and I can explain to my wife why this addiction to coding is a good thing!

I don't think anyone thinks that cops are all bad. And yes, the media is more likely to report on police brutality as opposed to an officer being killed. I'm just tired of seeing videos of assault, criminal negligence, and sometimes even murder and having  a certain portion of the country shrug it off as "a few bad apples". They play by different rules. A lot of the time they're not held accountable by district attorneys or their superiors. They get the benefit of the doubt. If a supervisor pulls up to a situation where a cop is standing over a suspects dead body, the cop's story is given the benefit of the doubt.

What I want people here to understand is that there is legitimacy to the video you linked. Unfortunately the percentage of cops that abuse their power paint the rest with bad lime-light. But that is not the fault of the media or people who are "anti-cop", that is the fault of the cops who do bad things.

Instead of turning this into a debate I want to built upon the message of the video you linked. The message of the video was overall "Only some cops do horrible things, so don't worry." I want to built that into "Only some cops do horrible things, so lets not make excuses for the ones that do. Lets enforce the law."

A LOT of people think this man.

Maybe the mindless people shouting "Fuck the police" at protests. But not average Americans who are growing concerned.
