A strange thing happening with CryENB 3

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have a question about the CryENB.

On some youtube videos the extras lights look fine and that seems to be one of the most realistic lightbar appearances around.

But in other ones and in my game that looks like one of the least realistic appearances. That means that the brightness off the light depends on the distance to the observer to such a ridiculously extreme degree with my own lights basically blinding me and all the other ones looking almost transparent. And the other problem is with amber lights being way brighter than any other color making the traffic advisor prevail over the primary lights.

With both kinds of looks described above people claim to be using the same mod but I was only getting the bad one yet.

What can be happening and how to get the good look?

Thank you!

Did you use the ELS preset that came with CryENB v3?

ELS lights in CryENB depend on the shaders. In V1 you had very bright lights, blinding even like you describe it, in V3, if you install everything correctly, they should look good.

Also check your visualeffects. Maybe your settings are too high for CryENB V3. I have my lights set to 80 and they look bright and realistic. So they might be too bright if you go towards values of about 150 or above.

It also depends on the lightbars. It seems like some lightbars are brighter out of the box than others, so you have to adjust accordingly to them. But I am not sure about that, it is only an experience I had. Like a Whelen Liberty is a lot brighter than a Whelen Legacy, therefore the Legacy always looks better for me.

Let me know if you found out anything ;)

The first video is the kind of look I am after.

If I just install everything out of the box as it comes it looks very much like this.

In one case the police lights look like police lights and in the other one they just become transparent mere couple of feet away from the car and the traffic advisor looks like intense solar glare.

I am just looking for a way to get the police lights to be effective meaning they can be seen attracting attention in traffic.

However most graphic modifications seem to be tuned for own car lights to look good and for some reason they are loosing intensity insanely quickly if you move away so there is no purpose in cars around you having them because you can see the car without their help much sooner then you see them. Also a lot of the time there are such issues like all the lights turning purple because of the huge glare that just blends with the opposite light or a traffic advisor so bright that it effectively obscures the primaries when on.

The guy from the first video seems to have found a nice and realistic combination with lights looking pretty being sanely bright without unrealistic glare and one of the most important things staying bright some distance away from the car like they should realistically.

The reason that the TA is so bright, is because the DROT lights (the rotating ones) aren't able to be as bright as the "normal" ELS lights. There's no way that I know of to match the brightness between the two.

I did not actually notice that thing.

What I mean is that it seems that yellow color prevails over any other irrespectively of the type of the light.

That car in the second video is just a pretty random example of what it looks like.

As you can probably see there from the front where there is no traffic advisor when the player is about a car length away from the lightbar you can not say whether they are on or off. That is what actually bothers me most as they behave this way no matter how bright they really are.
