GTX 960 vs R9 280

Featured Replies

Im in the same dilema as you. Currently, my money is on the GTX 960. On paper, the R9 280 beats it. But in real world use, so far the 960 is close to or even slightly better than the R9 280. Also keep in mind, AMD is going to release the R9 300 series soon because the R9 200 series hasn't been refreshed since 2013. (GTX 960 was just released last month or so). So if you aren't much in a rush, I say wait to compare it.

Yeah. I will order the rest of the parts until then.

I say grab the AMD, the rest of your build is more AMD.. The 960 only has 2gb of VRAM which the AMD has 3gb, which is pretty much needed for most games these days (anywhere from 2gb-4gb). If it was an Intel build then i'd go for the GTX, but since your build is AMD you should go with the AMD card, i haven't tried it but i read somewhere that it'll be best to have an AMD card with an AMD CPU/motherboard rather than having a GTX card with an AMD build.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

I'd say wait for the price drop on a 290 that the 300 series brings if money is the issue.  Shouldn't be much longer.  You can find 290's for cheap already.

Help my channel grow and I can explain to my wife why this addiction to coding is a good thing!
