I want to try and figure out a reason for something that has been an issue for a long time. I am sure others have had this issue and hopefully we can get it resolved so others can look upon this as a guide.

When modding vehicles I have found that modding police 1 and police 2 usually have no issues at all. Throw any car you like in there and you can use it in game. You can mod handling lines and whatnot to make it drive better but in the end they usually work fine. FBI is usually the same. Only time I had an issue was with the unmarked charger in the downloads section with black bars showing out of the trunk but forgot how I was able to fix that. I know I had to configure something properly.

I have found that the polpatriot slot and the noose slot when modding sometimes makes your character freeze in place and the graphics of the city and everything around you start to disappear. For example I start up the game and get ready to play as normal. When I use the vehicle selector during LCPDFR normal going on duty routine I find myself selecting my car and as soon as I hit the polpatriot slot or noose slot. (varies from vehicle model. Some work some don't) my character will be standing there with no vehicle to pick. I won't be able to move and the graphics slowly disappear. Why?

I currently have the unmarked tahoe that was posted in the GTAIV section in the polpatriot spot and it works without freezing up. I have the state trooper car from the downloads section () in my noose spot and occasionally it will freeze up. Even when spawning the car with SNT it will freeze up. I am wondering what could possibly cause this. I have been modding my cars with models and skins for months now and 1 model out of a ton will cause this issue. I can duplicate my police 1 or police 2 file and put it in those slots without having any issues. So why do certain models cause issues. I believe it has to be something other than the car model causing the issue and it has to be the slot that is the issue.

I hope we can resolve this to make everyones life a lot easier. A bonus note is that when I have these car issues my NOOSE backup fails everytime and causes crashes.

They are more detailed (higher poly count) and the game has more trouble attempting to load them, especially considering it is optimised to run the default vehicles which have much lower filesizes.

That is my best guess anyway but it happens, yeah.

I have had the same problem before also. Have you tried going into your Lcpdfr ini and were it says preload models I belive change that to yes and see if that helps. It worked for me so maybe it will for you also.

If they are ELS enabled vehicles, backup will often crash the game. This is because ELS reloads the model over and over again and it causes the game to freak out. This will cause it to CTD. It is recommended that you only mod vehicles that will not be spawned for backup such as "FBI" and "noose" as they are not spawned by LCPDFR as backup.

Alternatively, Open up the ELS.ini and change the AI setting to off. This means that any backup spawned will not crash the game as ELS will not be active on those vehicles.

As KDUB said, when spawning vehicles whilst at the station, opening up the LCPDFR.ini and changing the "PreloadAllModels" from false to true may solve your problem, though if your computer isn't the best, It may make things worse.

FBI and noose are both spawned as NOOSE backup. Actually, I normally get FBI when I call for it.

I guess is another thread someone decided to start. I don't have any issues with ELS and backup. It is just certain models that usually look super good so I am guessing they are crazy hipoly.

I will try modding the .ini file and let you know if it works.

What i don't get is i downloaded this vehicle from GPM today: http://gtapolicemods.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1404 ELS enabled and i haven't had ANY issue's with it at all, no crashes, no nothing

It loads the vehicles before it spawns them meaning that it's ready to spawn the high-poly vehicle and doesn't freak out.

I modded the .ini file at it works. I was able to cycle through all cars fast without any slowing down or glitching out. It was a miracle. I also like the tazer on the belt feature!!!! + HARDCORE MODE IS AMAZING!
