To install a new version of 1.0, simply download the manual install and copy all the files over (replace all). Updating with the automatic installer tends to cause issues because sometimes it doesn't feel like replacing all of the files (mainly AdvancedHook.dll).

To fix the graphics being locked, create a file called "commandline.txt" in the main GTA IV directory and put "-norestrictions" in it (without quotation marks of course).

thanks for getting back with me... i have another issue while i have u.   i started with a fresh downloaded copy of GTA 4 went to manually do that but then when i ran the diagnostic tool it told me the scripthook loader could not find something..  it said everything was ok all the way down the LOG but then at the end it said something like scripthook loader could not be found when its actually there... im re downloading right now to start over in case i messed up.

Im having a brain fart right now its been a while since i messed around with modding.  Do i need to download an ASI loader and scripthook or does that come with the LCPDFR 1.0 d??

Next time i will post the LOG if i have problems.. thanks.   So what is Xlive.dll and dsound.dll ..  i dont have to manually download those things for other mods to work as well??   unless im mistaken ... Damn its been a while i totally forgot how to do all this.. :(

Dsound and xlive are asi loaders, you need to have one (and only one) of these. I believe the latest version of LCPDFR comes with dsound. If you just copy everything to your GTA IV folder then it will be there. The older versions had a folder called "ASI Loaders" that had both xlive and dsound and you could pick which one you wanted. You don't have to manually download anything.

Got everything working great and am now enjoying the new version of LCPDFR. Deffinitly a big difference... il report any bugs i deem worthy of report and i understand other mods conflict... thanks for the help i really appreciate it

ok, now i feel like a little kid who cant stop asking u questions..lol   LAST QUESTION.. haha.

In your opinion what downloadable car mod (crown vic's n ETC) is most compatiable with the new LCPDFR. Would u have any suggestions or should i ask this in another forum???  Just trying to make everything run smooth i have never downloaded a car model and i use limited mods but good ones only..  Should i even use police helper mod or does this new version do all that??

If you are looking at vehicles to download here or elsewhere,  check the first 7-8 comments and see if any odd things or issues come up.  Pick the ones you like, rarely do I see lemons put up for download here.

Since you are trying to re-learn and get familiar with cars and probably other mods as well,  I suggest you install any additional content one at a time.

So install 1 car,  start the game and drive around for 5 minutes.   Try crashing the vehicle into things, shoot out all the windows,  damage related things and toggle through all the ELS lighting stage and sirens.  If that runs fine you can install another,  etc, etc.

I think the cars can be a bit more finicky and tougher on your performance.  Once you are happy with the cars you want,  then install any scripts like plate readers,  breathalyzers.

Depending on your comp,  you may get only a few cars to work and there are those who can replace a dozen vehicles or more.
