Featured Replies

So I've staved up some money with work, birthday money and Christmas money and I finally have enough to get a new PC. Here are the specs I think I am going with. Comment your opinions and and recommendation on different parts I should use:

Procesor Intel Core i5-3570 3.40GHz + ARCTIC Cooling Freezer 13

ASUS GTX 660 OC II 2GB

ASUS Motherboard P8Z77-V LX2

RAM 2 x 4GB DDR3 KINGSTON

SSD 120GB KINGSTON and 1TB HDD

OCZ StealhXStream 2 - 500W

Nice specs, congrats for saving up!

Are you sure you meant 660? I mean its a relatively old card and there are others that are cheaper and more powerful (unless your deliberately buying it second hand or something in which case kudos)

depending on how much money you have/what you plan on running, it wouldn't hurt trying to get a GTX 970,

best bang for your buck atm

not to mention, if you REALLY want to insure that you won't have any problems with games, you might want to look into an i5-4960K + z97 mobo

i know that's a little bit much and i realize it's a little bit overkill, but in the world of PC gaming it's always better to have a little bit more

the advantages of having an unlocked processor are obvious, if you ever run into a problem where you need a little bit more CPU speed, you can get it. hell, i had a buddy in who managed to get his i5 pushing 5.2ghz

if all of this seems to be a bit too much money, your current build will serve you well if you intend on maxing out the last generation of games. however, if you intend on using this rig for the foreseeable future, the beefer parts will serve you well

Was thinking of the 970 myself thought since he saved up I guess it would push the limit on the cost, though it's all about the budget.

I have a GTX 770 4GB and I can run everything on ultra without issues, so I really don't see a need for the 900 series just yet.

there's really no reason not to be shooting for the a GTX 970, they are around the same price, if not cheaper

more power efficient, and more powerful

What is your price budget and country? I'll put together a build on pcpartpicker as that'll be much easier for you as it shows cheapest prices and total costs. That is if you like. For your build now, I would almost for sure change that GPU as it won't keep up to todays generation of games if you are playing at 1080P. As for a GTX 970, amazing card if you have the money for it ($350USD with free game)but would used more for higher then 1080 gaming but still really good for its price as you can futureproof it a bit longer.

Feel free to PM me for help! Also please hit the like button if anything I said helped or made ya laugh. Specialty is computer hardware and assembling so feel free to ask anything if you need help :)

Good rule of thumb - Upgrade ever 2-3 graphic card series.

OP, I'd recommend buying the GTX 960 since it's brand new, and in my opinion, extremely affordable given the high performance they put into that card. It was very aggressively priced.

I believe they will start shipping within a week or two.
