How well do you rank this graphics card and rig setup for GTA IV

Featured Replies

I don't know where to post this but I just bought a new GFX card to put in my rig

Current specs:

intel core 2 quad core at 2.4ghz

6 gb ram

Wndows 7 x64

ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series, DDR2 1024 MB, 600 MHz core

upgrading to a XFX Radeon R7 240 780MHz 2GB DDR3

what kind of performance boost should i expect?

With the current setup..

I Cannot guarantee amazing FPS. And probably no chance of running a graphics enhancer mod.

With the new GPU, You should be fine, I Would recommend upgrading your processor as well.

That card is quite nice, So you should be all good with that, But the processor is my only concern.

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Your computer is decent. However your processor isn't that great for gaming honestly anything under 3.0ghz isn't great for gaming.. so you should consider upgrading your processor.

Doubt I could find a better processor for my rig, she is a dell xps 420 from idk when. I found her and rebuilt her to suit my purposes and the GFX has been my biggest concern. I'm able to play GTAIV with a ENB mod with ok fps hence why I wanted a new one.

Perhaps I will see what I can find that will fit the socket.

I'm not a techno geek but in my opinion, 2.4ghz shouldn't be too bad for a processor. My new alienware 18 has a Intel i7 @ 2.5GHZ and I can run GTA 4 with  almost all maxed with a ENB at 30-60fps mostly mid 40s which runs smooth for me as for Call of Duty ghosts, bo2(60FPS) and Advanced warfare 91 fps with max settings on all 3 . If that processor is the only one that fits your computer and you can't upgrade I wouldn't see it being too bad to go with it, as I said before i'm not a techno geek and I know next to nothing about this stuff but just gonna let you know my experiences with it...

Also i'd go with 8gb or 16gb of ram espically if you don't plan on upgrading for a while and want to play newer games that come out, my laptop has 16gb
