Is it OKAY to plug my Alienware 18 into a EXTENSION CORD? *NEED ANS ASAP*

Featured Replies

Well, it all depends on the wattage rating of your laptop charger and how many watts it draws, and if the extension cord you're using has a high enough wattage rating on it.

Here's the laptop charger stuff:

US 125V Power Cord

330W A/C Adapter

Not sure about the wattage on the extension cord, All I know is that I use it to power my xbox but my Alienware will be the only thing plugged into it if it is safe to do so.

i plugged mine too the octopus extension cord. tbh i think it is safer in an extension becasue what if lightning or a power short hits it it should be safe as long as your not overloading the extension cord. mine is a desktop better to be safe then sorry my friend you spend all that moeny and then zap i would cry too

Normal extension cords don't do anything to help against lightning. Surge protectors do, but extension cords are sometimes iffy for high-powered things (you're not supposed to use them permanently, because of the risk of overload).

What cp said. With that said, there shouldn't be any issue to use it for a while but you should think about finding another place to position your PC, closer to an outlet.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

Yeah it should be safe to plug into a surge protector; if you try to draw more amperage than it's rated for, the built-in circuit breaker will cut.
