Diversity in the workplace

Featured Replies

So guys, what I wanted to discuss today is diversity, basically have people more people of different races, ethnic backgrounds etc. to be in the workforce, this is something that has come up a lot in the news lately so I wanted your guys opoioin on it.

Should there be more of an effort to put diversity in the workplace?

Or does it really not matter and only the people who are qualified for the job should be hired?

Any other opinion is fine as well.

Christ, I'm tired of hearing about this shit, whether it's in the gaming industry (Yes, fuck you GamerGate), or to fApples diversity reports. AA needs to go, and go now. The most qualified should get the job, regardless of sex, age,or race.

And on a side tirade, women should not have double standards when it comes to jobs. If you believe you should have as equal an opportunity as men, then start applying to work in coal mines, oil drilling, steel working, welding, automotive, etc. I have much more respect for women that work in those industries than the ones who ONLY apply for cushy office jobs.

I don't get why someone would be upset because the majority of the people working In the workplace is white.

Maybe it's because they feel getting a job is important....or because they have the experience.

Race dosen't have to play a role in everything....

You know what else gets, they want to complain about this, but nothing is said about nurses and how 90% of them are feamales no one is pushing to get more men into the nurse force but oh when you talk about technology and stuff like that, all you hear is "we need more diversity".

Skin color doesn't matter. If you're smart and educated enough to do the job, then so be it. It just so happens that our community (Black) is having a lot of issues. Most of the issues in our community are in reliance with bad parenting, and a lack of proper leadership. They're ignorant on the fact that they're being raised incorrectly, so they blame it on racism. It's a community problem that'll probably never be fixed.

Nursing has pretty much always been a women's job...just like construction, law enforcement, firefighting, and other jobs requiring more "labor" has been a man's job.

Nothing is keeping men from going into nursing....it's just a job most men don't want to do. (too much caring...lol)

Funny thing, you know, in russia men and women are almost equally present in law enforcement, since men hold patrol, operatives, and special ops positions while almost 70% of investigative positions are held by women. My own boss is a lady who did 10 years in police and another 7 in federal body, and beside me there are only 8-10 guys in our unit.

Guess the whole diversity problem applies to the US and Europe mostly.
