Slicktop 2010 Ford Police Interceptor (WIP)

Featured Replies

Hey everybody!

It's Matt, and I've been working on something that i hope to get some feedback on, and will release depending on everyone's opinion.

The Taurus is one of my favorite vehicles, and at the moment very few people have the most recent FPI. I decided I'd take a swing at creating a model with Lccop's FPI.

It features a Whelen Talon, Axixtech Commander lightbar, and HG2 Side Running Strip.

The RCMP Skin was converted to fit the Taurus, but was created by the guys over at Mounties Gaming. When, and if i release it, I'll be sure to give them credit. If using their texture even while giving credit is an issue, I'll work on creating a fictional version. The model was originally created to use along with RCMP's Clan Pack 7.0, as there are no Tauruses in the pack.

The RCMP Skin will not be released with the vehicle. The skin was just being used on the vehicle at the time.

Please leave any feedback, and keep in mind it's a work in progress and I'm open to any suggestions!

After seeing all the feedback, I've decided to scratch the idea of releasing it with the RCMP skin. At the moment, I'm looking into some cool markings to skin the vehicle.

Thanks for the feedback!

Update 11/3/14:

As of today I've finished up a couple of things with the model and I'm working on a new livery for the vehicle that hopefully will please you guys. A few little updates are:

- Added Whelen Inner Edge XLP

- Fixed Template for Model (bumper)

- Added new gray color (better gray)

- Fixed lighting issues

At the moment I'm debating whether or not to release a version with the siderunners and one without. Please leave your feed back!

I'm pushing for a release sometime this week.

-Matt

Unfortunately, that's not a PI.

Most departments, RCMP included, use the 2013 model.

Notice that the front bumper, brake lights, headlights and several other things are completely different. The PI variant also replaces the "Taurus" badge with "Police Interceptor" (in the RCMP's case, they've removed the badge completely).

Interesting concept, but the RCMP do not use side runners on their Taurus'. Also, most of them don't use spotlights, some do in BC, but most of them do not.

I never knew this. If it wasn't a PI how is the grill blacked out like the PIs are compared to the civilian grill?

Everything needs more lights.

Thanks for the heads up! I should've been more specific, the model I'm using is the only currently public released version. I'm pretty into modeling, so i can't make any drastic changes to the model itself, at least on my own. I would love to use the newest FPI but I do not have access to one. Hopefully this can do for now.

I don't like the siderunners, but other than that it looks nice :)

Thanks! I might scratch the siderunners, I thought it would be a great way for visibility for road blocks, traffic management, etc. Might go for something a little more low key like a side window LED

You can't just credit them for the skin, you need to ask them for permission to redistribute their stuff. Also what makes this a RCMP FPI? The skin? This looks nothing like any RCMP FPI's.

Thanks for the feedback! You're completely right, I decided to scratch the RCMP markings for now. Either I design my own RCMP or i go with completely different markings.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm currently deciding whether or not to use RCMP markings, or to go with completely different markings. The vehicle is completely fictional and does not aim for realism.

you can just buy a fpi 2013 model from humster3d.com would be better then a 2010 sho Taurus because there were major upgrades and its very easy to tell a 2010-2011 Taurus from a 2013 one

Ford never publicly sold the 2010-2012 model Ford Taurus Police sedans. They started selling them in 2013, with the new bumper and all. No 2010-2012 Taurus police versions are in service as official police vehicles, as it was a concept idea.

Yes, but you have to know how to poly crunch the model, as it is about 500k polys stock, as well as convert the model to GTA IV, which beginning modders usually have no idea how to do.

False, quite a few departments use 2011ish Ford Taurus PI's. They never purchased them as a fleet, as you said they were a concept, but there are definitely 10-12 body style taurus running as official police vehicles. Especially in Massachusetts.

Pictures? I've only seen the civilian version being used anywhere, except for the stock Ford one with the black and white POLICE INTERCEPTOR livery.

Sorry, do not intend to hijack the thread, just my curiosity.

Is there a reason why they're not using spotlights? Just curious, a spotlight on a cruiser is something I consider as "standard" and all the LEO-vehicles here use spotlights

It's not uncommon for agencies to not use spotlights. Australian police vehicles are not equipped with mounted spotlights, however take-downs/alleys are standard in every light bar. I'm sure that goes for other departments that also do not use mounted spotlights.

He's right, Massachusetts has largely switched to mainstream POLICE INTERCEPTOR FPI's now.

Here's what I found http://1drv.ms/1rWCK01

But again, if you even see a Taurus (Very rare, most departments don't like them) it will most likely by a real Police Interceptor.

Those aren't PI's, but rather the civilian version. My department did the same thing; just bought a civilian 2010 Taurus and outfitted it.

Oh sorry, that's what I thought you were asking for. They look so bad, glad to see they'll be gone soon.
