I've lost my savegame folder!

Featured Replies

So I decided to give American Sleep a go (A mod that puts you with a crappy car, no money, a crappy apartment and with the right script mods, a crap ton of stuff to do), and I went and downloaded it. I go to put it in my GTAIV Save folder and boom, not there. I am 100% sure it was there when I bought the game, but its gone, just User Tracks, and Video folders. Yet somehow I have a GTAIV save on my game. So I overwrite and start a new game and save it. Still no savegame folder. Checked EVERY folder in steamapps, and program files, and documents, everywhere and there is NO savegame folder, yet there is a savegame on my PC somewhere linked to IV. Anyone know of a fix? I really want to try out this mod as it's a change from anything else I've done on GTA. Any help will be greatly appreciated

And by "depends on your asiloader" he means it is in the first one with xlive (because GFWL is disabled in this case) and the second one with dsound (because it saves with GFWL so the savegame transfers to other computers I guess). It will also go to the second one without any asi loader.

I'm using DSound so I'll look in that folder now

Gta iv has two different savegame folders. It depends on your asiloader.

The first one is here: C:UsersUserDocumentsRockstar GamesGTA IV

and the second one is here: C:UsersUserAppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IV

I, dont have an appdata folder

Search %appdata% in the start menu (assuming you're on Windows 7). Pressing enter will bring you to the Roaming folder, so click on AppData in the directory bar, then open local and go from there.

I'm on Windows 8, but it has a search bar as well. I'll try it and get back to you

Nope, just brings up stuff in app data, but its in the wrong app data.

Mine is Acer (C:)/Users/JASON1

It directs me to ACER (C:)/USERS/UPDATUSUSER/APPDATA

Wait a minute, maybe appdata in my user was hidden!

I'm gonna hide everything then unhide it.
