Just wanted to know if this will play GTA IV on Highest settings with no lag?

You should be able to get 30-40 FPS with the HD 6870 with Medium/High settings, On Very High your FPS will be reduced slightly but i reckon you would be ok...

I wouldn't take my word for the above though , GTA can be very temperamental and some systems handle GTA well and others not so much.

Too be honest it's fine, but i would go for the "AMD Phenom II X4 960T - Black Edition". It's the same price, better for gaming and is essentially a six core processor which has 2 cores locked, which could be unlocked if you want.

I currently use the Phenom II X4 960T and its great!

You should really be thinking "Can this PC run the latest games like Battlefield 3 on max settings?"

Don't focus on a PC soley for one game, you'll eventually tire of GTA IV and would only be able to play some of the less recent games.

I had a low budget when purchasing a laptop, I needed it for college, the one I found (That I'm using now) runs GTA IV on high settings.

I just see it as a bonus.

Iv been playing GTA4 since the day it was released. And until GTA5 starts seeing some mods, Ill probably still play it after GTA5 is released. Id play both. Hell, I even still play SA from time to time. Some games just never die. Like the original Duke Nukem for instance.

As for the GPU, I would go with an nvidia one. ATi seems to have alot of driver issues in a bunch of games. If you search around, youll see it having alot of problems with GTA4 as well. Iv had very little problems with my G80 8800. Aside from the occasional slow loading of textures (the well known missing textures!) when driving really fast through the city (due to only having 320MB of VRAM), even at that it keeps above 70FPS on medium settings.

And for storage, I would suggest getting at LEAST a 60GB SSD for the operating system (dont put any games on it if you go with 60GB, Windows 7 will take up more than half of it) but they are indeed instant loaders when it comes to booting up and web browsing.
