So Ive been Listening to PHX PD scanner for quite some time now, And my god, Its buzzing....Heres a link for You ppl to tune in live: http://www.radiorefe...=wp&feedId=9860

I thought It would be kinda fun to list some of the things Ive heard While listening.

Officer Involved In shooting.

Officer Danger Ring.

Dispatch "998 I repeat 998 (Deputy Involved In a shooting) At (Location Garbled and mixed by dispatch due to officer saftey), Any and all avalible Officers Please respond, Code 3 Incident, Status unknown"

Officer 1 (Unkown if Call in was related to 998) "Yeah Im trying to talk to him now, I cannot understand him, I think he was shot in the face"

Thats pretty much all I could pick up on the incident.

UPDATE: Officer responded to a person sleeping in a car, When the officer made contact, The suspect woke up, Opend his shirt and pulled a gun on the officer, The officer shot and killed the suspect, No officers were hurt in the incident, The suspect was 18 and had 7 Warrents out for his arrest.

Mental Hospital Break out.

Dispatch "We have a Mental hospital Break out, Suspect is a danger to him self and others, unkown for reason to be in MH, Last seen heading northbound (didnt get a location) Unkown Clothes due to suspect possibly taking clothes off"

That ones was a bit fuzzy for me since I barley heard it.

Officers Fight on air.

I barley heard this one, I came back to my Computer and heard the officer greifing about the other one talking, This is what I heard.

Officer 1 "Oh my god can some one please distract this guy....."

Officer 2 "Says something then, Yeah cuz I worked on the day shift so that one was on you Bitch"

Thats all I was able to hear, I was shocked at how un officer like it was to fight over the air like that, I hope the Cheif heard it too....

UPDATE: Could be non related, But, Its possible they were talking about a officer who pulled a gun on a sec. Guard at a strip club the other night.

Officers involved in a shoot out.

I Barley heard this one as well, I came back to my computer and heard this,

Dispatch to other county: Negative, There involved in a shoot out, Unkown if any officers are hit, Were getting updates at this time.

(later) Police officer: Yeah, We do have 1 subject down here, Send Fire.

Fire Dept.: PD, Is it known whether or not its CODE4 and clear for us to enter? Because if its not, We'll start staging.

Dispatch: FD, Thats a Negative, Officers are still clearning the residence, Incident is Non CODE 4, If you could, Please stage up outside the scene.

Fire Dept: Copy, We'll stage.

That's All I could really hear, It was sketchy, You can catch the story here: http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/local/sw_valley/buckeye-shooting-01162012

Thats pretty Much All I got for now, I always listen in my spair time when I play games, Browse Etc. Feel Free to add any you hear if you tune in on PHX or any other, If I hear anything good, Ill decide to post it, Thanks for viewing, JAM.

Real police Scanner, PHX PD dispatch scanner, You cannot hear traffic between officers, But you can hear dispatch speaking to officers and calling incidents, And I updated the story, Its on any local news station in AZ, Ill dig up the story some where.

To go slightly off topic here, I think people have this idea that cops are always supposed to be lawful good and never ever do any wrong, they get that from TV, movies, games, books, etc where the cops are nearly always portrayed as the good guys, and are shocked when cops do the smallest thing wrong.

Occasionally I listen to my county's Fire/EMS/PD dispatch consortium on RadioReference. Last year (2010) on Christmas Eve I remember the dispatcher for the county sheriff put out an APB on Santa Claus. Breaking into people's homes and leaving wrapped boxes, stealing cookies and eggnog, possibly driving under the influence. Last seen in a red sleigh with nine magical reindeer over the area of (small town near me), direction of travel unknown. Approach with caution. She also requested that all units acknowledged the transmission, so when everyone in the field called in to do that it was pretty funny, too.

I don't think I'll ever forget hearing that. It was priceless.

lol nice one. In a vid i posted on you tube it has NY police scanner running in background. Didn't notice it when I was recording but there was a call about a naked black lady in the street shouting abuse at passers by. It was near a primary school so was dealt with quickly.

To add to penguins post I only became aware of this yesterday >>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NORAD_Tracks_Santa

While yeah when doing something small, It can be easily looked over I agree, The Thing is, Police Officers are meant to stay as professional As possible, Cussing, Spitting, Belching etc are looked down upon because it makes look un professional, I remember Haning with my on duty friend in a D.U.I task force, I offerd him gum, He said no Due to the fact there not even allowed to chew gum because it would look weird with an officer walking up to your window chewin his jaw off.

It's about context though JAM, football coaches chew gum and spit and (famously for Jerry Glanville curse up a storm) do whatever on the sidelines on national TV and nobody cares, soldiers do most of the stuff you listed as well both on and off duty (it's a trope about drill sergeants swearing at the recruits), IMO, it's about perception, but it goes both ways, yeah that cop was in the wrong, but at the same time the cops/whatever else are being held to too high standards, nobody can be perfect 100% of the time. IMO, having a cop belch or swear or spit around me is not unprofessonal, it's human, at the end of the day, they are not machines.

Let's say for an example, you get stopped by a cop who then gets their car run into that hits yours and the cop, hurting them, would you expect the cop to keep it G-rated? I wouldn't, I'd be perfectly fine with the cop swearing about how it hurts and how he needs backup.

i gave the scanner a listen for a few hours earlier, didn't hear anything too interesting

EDIT: IMO part of the whole unprofessional problem is TV/media always associates unprofessonal with dirty cops also, and paints cops as either good or dirty typically.
