as some of you seen I lost my computer due to the operating system / hard drive

I lost hundred's ( yes  I really did )  of gta 4 model's from past 3-5 year's,  all my work I was working on,  all my modded game files etc, all editing programs for gta skin's and model's, etc etc
( and every other game as well)

its just really really really frustrating starting over from complete scratch,  yes I know shoulda backed everything up couldn't afford a external hard drive to do it though so I saved up and finally brought 1 to start backing everything up, and what happens I get hit with a bad stomach virus   just my luck and the computer blow's out

sorry had to vent,    as I sit here redownloading everything out there for the gta 4 world and all editing program's I was using

hoping best buy and geek squad can recover everything 5 days haven't heard anything  ,   if there's a model or model's i can't find wondering if any1 would be willing to help for ex like KevinDV I know he pretty much took down his model's from everywhere

I hate to say it but you should have had backups.
Hard drives have a limited lifespan. SSDs even less of a lifespan. If you've bought a SSD, make sure to make backups as a priority.

The best way of doing it is making offline (external HDD) and online backups (Amazon Glacier).

I used to watch RAID arrays die at work all the time, one HDD would fail, would be replaced then the other HDD would fail during the replication process, making the whole RAID process useless.

 

The crapness of data storage is why we have LCPDFR.com incrementally backed up every hour.

Yup, I didn't wanna be "that guy" that points out the obivious, " You should have made back-ups", so I'll let Jay take the rap for that..

 

But in all seriousness you should make back ups, or at least just the absolute important stuff. I myself have 2 ext. HDDs with 10TB of total space. Will I ever fill it up? Nope. Product of a drunk tech binge... 

my first post  I couldn't afford to buy an external hard drive    I literally just brought 1 that had 2 terra bytes of memory 2  days before it crashed to start backing everything up only problem I got sick 

 

day i started feeling better it crashed its just literally my dumb luck,     there is some stuff that was back up,  but about 75% of it wasn't

I've had to totally refresh my pc a couple of times. I have a 1tb Seagate drive to backup cars, skins, mods and my zmodeler projects. I forgot to backup my crap last time and lost about 15 cars I was working on.

The same happened to me, I lost a lot of work and all of my unlocked zmodeler files when my hard drive failed on me.

My computer has not yet failed on my but one time my computer did a BSOD...It scared the literal shit out of me.

So little update some how some way geek squad at best buy saved everything from our dead/shot hard drive and put it on an external hard drive

 

they gave us back our dead/ crashed hard drive not sure what on does with a hard drive that no longer works lol

I feel you on this I lost lots of cars that have been pulled and lots of skins I made as well but, in my case what sucks is it was my backup external hard drive that crashed I lost of stuff including evi's 2012 caprice's that are no one available
