Playing As LSPD Ped

Featured Replies

I guess this is about as close to LSPDFR as we can get at the moment. There is another thread about how to change your model and be able to do this in game.

Im pretty sure every one has done that, participated in those random events. Its not that fun though, as always console roleplay will always be bad. Good think consoles will be obsolete soon. also, it wont be called LSPDFR. It will always be LCPDFR. KFC started off in kentucky, and now its every where. They didnt change it to Massachusetts Fried Chicken did they?

I dunno where you get that idea. They sell better and better every generation. They'll merely bring along more web and some operating system features with them as time goes forward. Microsoft has the right idea; making the XBOX One a home entertainment system of sorts.

Says who? The G17 team will decide that when or if the time comes.

Gaming PC's and parts have skyrocketed in sales in the past years, considering PC's can get way better quality graphics than even next gen consoles, more and more people buy them. There isnt an awful lot that consoles can do but pcs cant, I dont think there is anything really. Either way a console is a computer anyway, but still.

And console sales still trump those. Believe me, I'm not a console purist; my PC is and likely always will be my primary gaming platform, but it's not nearly as accessible as a console, plain and simple. Many kids have their gaming systems purchased for them, and parents get to blow half the money of a good PC on a console (at launch time, it drops over time) that maintains its graphical prowess for 5-7 years until the next generation comes out. All they need to do is buy the kid games and new controllers once in a while. This makes consoles a much more attractive option for parents. They also act as DVD/Blu-Ray players and now even internet surfing devices, making it a complete home theater hub as well. Also, a lot of people simply won't, or can't wrap their heads around the use of a mouse and keyboard for controlling a video game (hence all of the people on this forum who ask about or use XBOX 360 controllers). Console controllers are much simpler in design and don't require as much motor skill as a keyboard and mouse does for some games.

There is a place in this world for both devices, and I do think that eventually they'll merge into once piece of hardware. We might end up with an XBOX that comes with a mouse, keyboard and controller all as standard, and a full Windows operating system with various "modes" so you can switch between desktop friendly usage and gamer friendly usage. All having equal hardware and reliability (hopefully) at a set price.

Your right to some extent. I mean what sounds more appealing for a little kid, an xbox that billy down the street has, or a computer. About the controller part, thats why you can use an xbox controller for pc games. Every xbox game available for pc allows use of a controller. A pc can do every thing you just said about the console aswell. Eventually more and more people will realize this.

What if that little kid wants to play with his friends and Billy? Let's be honest, not many kids have their own gaming computer.

Three words: ease of use. Press the power button, insert the disc, and you're good to go. No need to install the games, update the drivers, worry about software-related issues (compatibility problems, for instance) and hardware specifications, etc. Don't forget not many operating systems are as intuitive for an 8-year-old than that of a console.

Thats what I like about PC, no annoying little kids. Also, discs are a load of bullshit, downloading games is WAY Better, no idea how you got the idea that discs are easier, not to mention the newest games have you use a download disc. When you download a game on steam, you hvae it forever, it wont get lost. It cant break like a disc. And how you said 8 year olds, they shoudlnt even be playing games other than minecraft and tetris on an xbox, although now they play cod,bf, etc. If that wasnt the case a kid wouldnt need a gaming rig.

On paper (is that a gallicism?), sure, downloading games (legally, of course) is better. Now, if you have a crappy Internet connection like mine, you're better off with discs. My peak download rate is 170kB/s, which means I'd need more than 2 days (about 49 hours) to download a 30-gigabyte game. I like the way Steam works: you buy a game and then it's yours forever. I really do. But that's not restricted to digital purchases, fortunately. You can still buy the retail version of that game, activate it and then install it. It'll be yours to keep forever just as well. I read a very interesting article about the digital market recently, but I don't remember where (all I remember is that it featured lots of figures). This article concludes that even though there are more and more games that can only be purchased online and downloaded through Steam or another similar platform, we're not ready to have an all-digital market yet, just because there are still lots of peasants like me who simply can't afford to download tens of gigabytes in just a matter of minutes. This isn't North Korea.

There are tons of console and PC games that can be played by 8-year-olds, but yeah, parents should be more responsible and not let their 5-year-old kids play Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty. But that's not the point. The point is, a console is easier to use than a PC, overall. You don't even need discs anymore, if that's what bothers you. The only downside is: if it breaks, there's not much you can do about it, unless its warranty hasn't yet expired. On the other hand, you're less likely to experience crashes and stutters when you play on a console.

Anyway, could we please get back on topic?

Considering the Op hasnt commented at all, this has skyrocketed away from the topic. I disagree, and agree with you. If you have a bad pc, then you will crash and lag. A console is a pc, it doesnt really make a difference. Our gta's crash cause they are modded, so that has nothing to do with the system your playing on. Ive never seen Battlefield, Cod, Arma, etc crash or lag on me. I do get occasional lag, but that happens on consoles and pcs.

Also, yeah lets stop talking about this here. Maybe if we should discuss this we should do it via PM.
