Simulate Key Press for Xbox Controller (ELS)

Recommended Posts

***If you don't care about using an xbox controller then I would skip this thread.***

I just wanted to suggest/share a mod for those who use an xbox controller. I found this great mod called Simulate Key Press by NomeSkavinksi and it allows you to map keyboard keys to the xbox controller. I use it for ELS so that I can use my controller to control sirens and lights. This saves me from having to switch back and forth between keyboard and controller for most keys.. LCPDFR already makes great use of the controller but this adds on the ability to map ELS keys.

Anyway download & install Simulate Key Press SimulateKeyPress v1.0.1 (Google Search)

After you install it correctly, open the ini file and configure to your liking. (Make sure you don't use conflicting buttons between LCPDFR & ELS on the controller. Also, some keys may conflict with the default GTA IV keys.) If you want my configuration or can't get it to work just PM me =)

Yes, Xpadder is free.

I downloaded it here.

Xpadder also has easy-to-use interface. Pressing the buttons you want to keybind from the keyboard to the controller by simply, pressing the key on the keyboard. It has a picture of the controller so you can move around the keybinded buttons to the spots on the controller so you know what button activates the correct key.

But to each his own, find one that works for you.

If you like the desktop way instead of the live tiles, check out Classic Shell

It forces your computer to load to the desktop instead of the live tiles. You still get the live tiles. You can just go to your side-appear menu to go back to the tiles.

All the buttons I have mapped are:

Left Button = J (For ELS)

Down Button = Down arrow (Scrolling down on the Pursuit tactics list)

Right Button = G (For ELS Siren)

Right Bumper = F8 (Pull up Pursuit Tactics)

A Button = Enter Key (Selecting a PT action)

You're welcome.

I like it and use it on my laptop which isn't a touchscreen, so the live tiles are a pain in the ass.

Classic Shell makes it seem like I don't even have Win 8.

No.

Check out the LCPDFR.ini

It lists the keybindings for the controller that are automatically mapped, so you can alter them to your liking.

When pulling someone over, you just hit X.
