Need To Buy A Gift

Featured Replies

So, My nephews birthday is in 2 weeks, he enjoys pc gaming, mainly because he plays Arma 2 DayZ when he comes over. I want to get him a decent PC, and I dont have enough time to build it, since I have 2 weeks. I browsed prebuilt pc's that are custom. I wanna know if this PC i was checking out is worth it, if not I'd also like some suggestions for PC's around 500$.

This PC Is listed at 400$.

Specs:

CPU: AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core Processor 3.9GHz single threaded or 3.8GHz multi-threaded with all 4 cores fully loaded.

Motherboard: ASROCK 960GM-VGS3 FX Socket AM3+ MicroATX Motherboard, supports up to 8 core CPU.

Includes Hyper-Transport 3.0 (HT 3.0) Technology.

Includes AMD Radeon 3000 Graphics Controller w/ 512MB Max Shared Memory.

DVD: 24X SATA DVD±RW Internal Drive. Also reads and writes CDs.

RAM: 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM. Upgradeable to 8GB (add $69) or 16GB (ask for current prices)..

Hard Drive: 1TB (1,000GB) 7200RPM SATA3 Hard Disk. Ultra Fast (185MB/sec sustained read rate), low power, and most reliable hard disk.

Case: Raidmax Vortex V4 ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case.

Includes silent rear fan, side view window, and ultra-cool design.

O.S.: We can install 64bit trial version Windows 7, including all drivers, service packs, security updates/patches, etc. (it takes a whole day)

.. If you have a license from your old computer, you can save $$ and use it to "upgrade Windows" and keep the drivers/settings.

We can install (permanent) 64-bit Linux for free upon request, or permanent 64-bit Windows 7 or 8 (new license from Microsoft) for $119..

You can specify your desired username/password, or the username will be set to "quality" and password "computer", for you to change.

Dual Video: In addition to the build-in Radeon 3000 Graphics (VGA) you can add an AMD Radeon HD 5450 PCI-Express Video Card

which includes 1GB GDDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI for only $49. Ask for pricing for more powerful discrete graphics cards.

Power Includes high efficiency Basix 400Watt power supply, which is silent because it has a 120mm fan inside instead of 80mm fan (spinning

twice as fast) on the outside. You can upgrade to 600Watt (if you plan to add the most powerful discrete graphics card in the future)

for only $19. Note that this is a very "green" design, as it only uses 50 to 75 Watts ordinarily, and in the rare case of fully stressed

(all 4 cores at 100%) will only use 120Watts. Compare to the expensive discrete graphics cards that use 200 or 300 watts all the time.

Best Regards,

iiKonrad

Ill check amazon for something good aswell.

He sure is one lucky nephew

If A2 DayZ is all he'll be running then you can really get away with getting any kind of PC due to the extent of customisability of graphic options. Though I would definitely get the $49 1GB GDDR3.

I would have thought that build would be a solid first gaming rig.

Its okay, CPU is average. I would buy a separate GPU because both of the ones they listed are pretty bad. For 140 bucks pick up the EVGA GTX 750Ti SC 2GB @ Amazon (Link below)

Also for RAM 4GB is more then sufficient for gaming but if he goes into video rendering/editing or Photoshop, then it would be better to go for 8GB. No need for 16GB as its pretty useless unless you dont wanna buy RAM for the next 10 years :P

Other then the graphic card, you should be good.
