Unable to start GTA IV after one successful attempt

Hi,

I followed the instructions on http://www.lcpdfr.com/forum-20/announcement-5-need-support-read-this-first/ and got LCPDFR working on my computer yesterday night. However, when I attempted to load GTA IV today, an error message popped up stating that GTA IV has stopped working. The error occured after I clicked 'Start' and the game tried to load. Not sure what's the problem. Please help? Thanks!

Try to delete your save files and start a new game..!!!

I think you must have corrupted your savegame by saving while on duty...

It happened for me once but then I just deleted my old saves and started a new game..!!!

And also make sure that you run your game as admin always..!!!

Changing the asi loader to xliveless doesn't always fix everything for everyone, And can infact cause some problems, But he should it give a go at least I suppose.

EDIT: Lol, I love how I get a -1 when some one disagrees with me, Seriously though, Xliveless isint a recommended asi loader, DSOUND is, Thats the whole reason why I stated that it doesn't not fix the evertying, it MAY of fixed the problem for you, but that doesent mean it apples to everyone -_-....

Didn't know I wasn't supposed to save while on duty. Where are the saved files located? I am using Windows7 Ultimate (6.1.1.0 Build: 7601) Service Pack:Service Pack 1. I ran the game as an admin.

Perhaps I could try removing the saved files first? If it fails, I can then try changing to xliveless?

Ah, hang on. If your using Xliveless I believe it saves them somewhere else. I don't use that so maybe someone who does can comment.

Also that save game file can be hidden if the options in folders in control panel is set to hide some folders

Nah, it saves them in the usual place. Also the savegames aren't usually hidden but it depends on your OS

a corrupt savegame definitely sounds like the culprit here. In future, finish the first mission and then head over to your gamesaves. Copy the savegame(s) into another location so that next time you have this problem you have your backup.
