Arma 3 addons.

Have you ever played Arma 3 and thought the inventory (gear) system was great? Choose what you want to hold if you are near/carrying the item. Wouldn't it be great if we could do this on LCPDFR? Go to our boot and press 'G' and a inventory pops up and we can put on jackets, hats, glasses, weapons....

I'm not sure if this suggestion is possible but hope so...

How about having more than 1 partner now by choosing them at the police station? (Let's say 3 max)

And we can have commands like Arma interface has

such as:

  • Move there (Inc map)
  • Halt
  • Regroup
  • Get in that vehicle
  • Stack up
  • Take cover
  • Drop/Get item from boot
  • First aid
  • Arrest suspect

I know a few commands I wrote above LCPDFR already has but adding it to a Arma kinda style interface would be great and easier for people to use. (Not gonna lie but the quick action menu kinda sucks, lags out when first using it and few little choices to select)

One more thing, able to switch player to your partner, that's the thing i'm not to sure is possible but hopefully it is.

P.S.

I haven't gone to sleep for 24 hours and my English maybe a little bad.

I'm not really sure what the point of this is. Maybe some kind of interface for getting a new weapon from the trunk (that'd be shotgun or the carbine), but clothes? No. I'm not sure how many departments keep clothes in the trunk, maybe vests but the LCPD doesn't use vests in GTA IV. Clothing can be put on at the police station, or with a trainer if you really don't like your cop clothing.

More partners would be useful if you are playing as a NOOSE team, but those commands would be very hard to do. You can put a waypoint on the map and the backups you call will move there first though.

Doing a GTA V character style switch in GTA IV is possible, but extremely buggy.

And here I come to the part of your post that I have a problem with

What kind of talk is that? lol. The quick-action menu works fine for me, it doesn't lag out and offers good LCPDFR functions in a easily accessible interface. It isn't the LCPDFR Teams fault that your computer + game lags out when using the interface. They provide this mod for free, no need to say that the interface sucks because it surely doesn't. What the team has done with GTA IV scripting is amazing. It is far from sucky, sir.

One more thing: Adding more mods to GTA IV, or more features to LCPDFR is generally a bad idea, especially those who are of a larger scale. Small callouts are of course fine, but entierly new features (such as a character switch) is doomed to create more crashes and lessen the player enjoyment immensly. There's an Efficiency Ratio to be taken into consideration here:

More mods = More Crashes

More crashes = Less player enjoyment

Is that calculation worth it? Do you want to sacrifice player enjoyment for this?

Further, LCPDFR does come with an API. You seem to know your codes, take a look at it. Maybe you can implement something like this yourself.

I'm not talking about changing uniforms and that, I know many police around the world keep weapons, high-vis jackets, hats and that in their vehicle.

True about large scale but it would be great to have it on there without being buggy, that's why I suggested it and no I don't know how to code mods.

Also i'm sure they could improve the quick action menu, all I can say it lacks something as it's not very choice worthy.

I would make it by allowing the player to choose what actions are on the menu in the .ini file.

This is a suggestion section and i'm suggesting, not saying the mod is bad...

<snip for shorter post>

Hi, I'm gonna break down your suggestion a bit.

First of all, you are aware that you can send orders to your partner already by pressing the necessary ALT keybinds. You don't really need to clutter the player with another interface when it is right there with keys. Holding ALT shows you that little square. that is the pointer for the partner commands.

PartnerArrest_____________G

PartnerRegroup___________R

RecruitPartner____________G

Note as well in the Quick Action menu it has a "Partner Stay" and "Partner Goto" command.

Next.

Go to the boot and press 'G' to get an inventory screen. I actually kind of like this idea, but it would conflict with the already scripted press E. In other words, players wont like pressing 2 different keys and essentially having 2 unique boots on a single car. Maybe it is possible, who knows.

Next.

The quick action menu doesn't suck it works fine, given that it is a "quick" action menu. It even slows down time around you as well so you can think a little bit about your decision. I don't see the need again, to have another interface pop up. you are going to add more confusion to the screen.

Next.

Having more than one partner, not sure if possible by doing the aim and recruit option. Personally I think for the majority of the game, more than one partner is silly, as ineseri said above, using it for the NOOSE is a good idea, but I rarely play noose, and the callouts aren't really aimed at the noose to be honest.

Next.

Switch player to your partner. Again you are adding confusion. And as said above, it is buggy as hell with the GTA V style switcher, I'll settle for just one player thanks.

That's just my thoughts on your suggestions.

Arma 3 would be awesome for LCPDFR but the driving in Arma is downright horrible. Other than that, I love it. The fact that its stable as hell and there are DEDICATED SERVERS!

Huh, Did you read the topic?
