Email spam - clan advertisements?

Featured Replies

Wait a second.

What do you mean by your "mass email system"? Does this mean you're intentionally sending spam to everyone who has registered?

Our mass email system is designed to send emails to everyone, this system is used to announce any updates or changes, even issues related to the site, it's intention is not to spam you daily but only on a as needed situation, and these are not auto generated emails I type them out myself.

Oh, now I see what you mean. When you sent out that newsletter, it contained all the recipients in the "To:" field so others were able to gather those emails and spam them.

Yes, I'm sorry about this issue the code for the emails is the same for parts of the site that only send an email to one person, I forgot to protect it, but I have changed the code to only send the email to one person at a time.

The standard way to email a big list of people would work here as well: you just send the email to yourself and BCC all the real recipients.

This is pretty messed up, spamming inboxes with ads. I am proud to say that we are not one of these communities. It's really a shame to see this happening. It just puts a bad rep out there on all of us.
