Agree, I support the legalization of weed only because cops have better things to do then stop some 22 year old smoking a gram of weed when he could be stopping someone from doing crack.

I agree with you that Marijuana is bad but saying that it is bad because it is a drug is not correct. What I think you should've said is that it is a bad drug. Some drugs are worse than others. Just some advice. :)

Marijuana is a bad drug that causes impairment and other health issues. (including loss of brain cells, which some people need)

Alcohol does kill brain cells but it is much different than Marijuana. Also, it even says in the article, standing away from the microwave prevents brain cells from dying. Who holds their head up to a microwave anyway? If that is your argument, we should ban falling and require everyone to wear bubble wrap suits and helmets.

Personally, I don't mind people smoking weed. I've got a few great friends who do it every now and then to celebrate an occasion and I'm fine with them doing it. Personally, I've never done it and I probably never will, but I don't demonize it like many other people do. It's been proven that alcohol is much worse than marijuana so I'd rather people have fun doing weed as opposed to drinking.

 

That said, I don't think that kids in grade 7 and 8 should be doing. Hell, kids in 9 and 10 shouldn't be doing it either. The only people who should (and even this is stretched because I'd rather nobody did it) are people who are mature enough to be able to step back and see that it's something that shouldn't be abused. If you can do weed and then say "That was fun, I think I'll do it again in five or six months" and then not be tempted by it, I say do what you want. But if you're not mature enough to be able to stop yourself before you spiral into substance abuse, then stay away.

 

tl;dr: Marijuana is bad, but I don't demonize it.

Weed is not a drug man, drugs are manufactured, Marijuana is grown out of the ground, of course you have the occasional butt pirate that laces it with other substances & FYI not everyone here is in the same state as you..
 

 

Grown out of the ground or not, it has the active ingredient THC which is a drug. You can smoke the leaves right out of the ground and get high off it because of the THC content in the leaves. Of course when it is processed it is more potent, but it's still a drug without being processed or laced. 

 

If you stretch that logic you can say that since opium (and from there heroin and many other hard drugs) come from opium poppies (grows outta the ground) then it's not a drug. 

Honestly though, who cares. As long as the people who do the drugs are responsible there won't be many problems.

@Slimory: Microwave ovens produce non-ionizing radiation, just like cell phones do. Furthermore, the oven itself is generally a Faraday cage, trapping *all* the radiation anyways. The microwave radiation literally cannot contribute to cancer in any way, shape, or form.

@those saying pot isn't a drug: It is. There's no point saying it isn't, because it clearly is. Now, "drug" != "bad" - all a drug is is something that affects your body and isn't a food. Medication consists of drugs. If you've *ever* been sick and had antibiotics? Drugs. Aspirin, Advil, Tylenol, etc.? Yup, all drugs.

Likewise, "it's natural so it's not an issue" is total bullshit. Arsenic is natural. Nightshade is a plant. Natural things can be fatal pretty easily. "Natural" vs. "artificial" is only a distinction in how it's made; it has literally nothing at all to do with safety. If you go around consuming everything natural you can find, you'll probably be dead within a week from disease or poisoning.
