My recommendation would be to get a real computer instead. Here are the computer specs for GTA IV:

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Windows Vista (plus Service Pack 1)

  • Windows XP (plus Service Pack 3, DirectX 9, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5)

Minimum:

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
  • Memory: 1.5GB

  • Free Hard Drive Space: 16GB

  • Video Card: 256MB NVidia 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900

  • DirectX 9 compatible Stereo Sound Card

  • Keyboard

  • Mouse

Recommended:

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
  • Memory: 2GB (Windows XP) 2.5GB (Windows Vista)

  • Free Hard Drive Space: 18GB

  • Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870

  • DirectX 9 compatible Surround Sound Card

Apple hardware can indeed run Windows, and has been able to for quite a while (this is useful for, among others, people who prefer Macs but need to run Windows-only software for work, or who need to run both Mac-only and Windows-only software for work). That said, iMacs have a lot of the constraints of laptop hardware, since that's generally how all-in-one PCs are built (laptop hardware is easy to cram into any form factor; desktop hardware tends to work well when given a big box with lots of space, but doesn't like the constraints coming with an all-in-one).

That said, I currently have a laptop with an NVS 5400M, which is quite a bit worse for gaming than a GTX 775M (the NVS series is designed for business/CAD work, not for gaming), and I can run GTA IV just fine (albeit generally without high-poly car mods or ELS, no ENB, and paying attention to how many scripts I use). If you aren't going for high-poly car mods or ENB, you should be fine with the Mac.

Also: Presumably you use your computer for many things besides GTA; if you really like OS X and want to use it as your main OS, and are willing to pay the premium, I'd definitely get a Mac. You can set it up to dual-boot Windows, which carries no performance penalty (it's not emulating; it's actually running Windows exactly like any other computer does), and you can launch into OS X for normal use.

Thank you very much much guys.  I have to get a mac do to living with a teacher whose school is make the transition to mac next school year (really dont have a choice as far as building a windows computer) and since I am upgrading to a desktop I wanted to make sure the graphics card can handle it.

iMacs actually basically use laptop hardware under the hood. They don't have the power limits of a laptop (no battery), but the parts tend to be laptop-grade (hence the 755M; M is "mobile"). However, if you are getting a Mac anyway, your only higher-performance would be a Mac Pro, and that's way, way, way too expensive for any non-professional use.

iMacs (by the way: "Imac" isn't a thing, the term is "iMac") are from Apple, but can be perfectly decent computers. They tend to have performance around the level of a high-end laptop, and should be fine for GTA IV (GTA IV can certainly run fine on decent laptops; you only need a very powerful computer if you're going to be heavily modding it, e.g. if you use ENB or high-poly car mods). I have a laptop with basically lower specs than the average iMac, *and* which has a graphics card optimized for business and CAD use (and so worse for gaming than a comparable GeForce-series card), and I can run EFLC fine with a couple scripts, vanilla car mods, a ped mod, and no ENB.

I don't really think there's any circumstances where I could justify recommending someone get an iMac when the primary purpose (or at least one purpose) is gaming.  The hardware is mediocre in terms of graphics power, and you'd be crazy to pay top dollar for something that's going to perform at a mediocre level in games like GTA IV.  You could easily build a high spec PC for the same price or less.

I played GTA IV on my iMac for the longest time and it had a less powerful graphics card than that and worked fine. You just can't run the game at max settings or install crazy ENBs. I got about 30-50 (Usually in the high 30s/low 40s for FPS, but since your's has a better video card, you should get even better performance. Make sure you use Boot Camp though.
