Can anyone help me with lighting issues (more is description)?

Featured Replies

Hi. I just wanted to know if there is any way I can dim the street lights at night? Whenever I patrol around at night (especially with the snow mod), the street lights are so unrealistically bright to the point where it is just plain annoying. :wallbash:  I can hardly see the light bar on my cruiser. Is there like a ".ide" or ".dat" file or something like that where it allows me to change a setting or the value of a number to dim the street lights? I'm not looking for any ENBs or graphic mods because anytime I try one it screws up my game. I don't have any ENB or anything like that in my game now.

Thanks for your time! Please help me with this! :smile:

I tried it, but the "trafficLight.intensity" value didn't affect the intensity of the street lights at all.

Well can you take a screen shot of what it looks like?

Also did the other emissive lights settings fix your light bar lights?

The light bar lights were fine, it was just that like, lets say I make a traffic stop under one of the street lights, the brightness from the street lights over-takes the light bar and it doesn't look realistic at all and you can hardly see the police lights.

Sure. I will screenshot now.

Oh so its not the actual lights on the lightbar, but the lights that shine on the ground and buildings from the light bar?

Do you have simple native trainer? What I would recommend is messing with your weather, between sunny, extra sunny and extra sunny 2 and different times of day and then freezing the time and weather to the optimum setting. I have just started doing this recently and it made a big difference in my game. Just a thought and you don't have to mess with any time cycles or ENB's!

Yes this does help but he obviously has some bad settings bc, the street lights shouldn't overwhelm his lightbar!

Yeah, I have that. I always adjust my time of day/weather settings according to the time of day in real life I am playing/patrolling. It doesn't fix the street lights thing, though. It does, however, give me more flexible options for weather and time of day. I don't know what I would do without that setting.

K so what it looks like is your ENV lighting need to be set, find your ELS.ini in your main gta and change these settings

[ ENV LIGHTING ]
Range_PRML = 65
Inten_PRML = 50
Range_SECL = 15
Inten_SECL =25
Range_WRNL =20
Inten_WRNL =2
EnvMult_Morning = 0.4
EnvMult_Evening = 0.6
EnvMult_Night = 0.6

and for the red ,blue ,and amber lights on the ground you go to the els manila folder, default_config

[ ENV_LIGHT_COLORS ]
Extra_1 = red
Extra_2 = red
Extra_3 = blue
Extra_4 = blue
Extra_5 = white
Extra_6 = white
Extra_7 = amber
Extra_8 = red
Extra_9 = amber

Thanks, but this is for the light bar, not the street lights. The problem I'm having is that the nights are too bright and the reason I think that is causing these bright nights is the street lights being too bright. I want to make them dimmer, not the light bar brighter. If I waited until night time and looked outside of my house, the street lights would emit some light, but if you were to try to drive without headlights, you wouldn't be able to see. The reason why I mentioned the light bar was to help everyone better understand what I was trying to say, reason being because I have posted this issue in the past and nobody really helped me or was really bothering. You seem to be helping me the most, though- I must say! :thumbsup:

Thanks man, i would want someone to help me if i needed it as well, but back to your problem. The only thing that i know for shure that will fix this, is using some new timecycle files- like this one here http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/realityiv-162-timecycle-mod-f7929

This wont have a huge impact on your pc like an ENB or ICE will! It will also make your game look much better! Now if you dont want to try this, all i can say is try messing with your ingame display brightness and contrast.

Let me know how it goes, also this does have a new visualsettings.dat, so make a backup of your old one if you like how your ELS lights look now. You might have to change them alittle with the new timecycle files, but its worth it!!!

Also my post about your ENV lighting, this is not the actual light that is on the light bar. It is the light that is emitted onto objects around you and on the ground from the light bar. I say this because i knoticed in your pics with ELS on, that there is no lights on the ground from your lightbar! Like seen in my video here

Okay. Thanks! Yeah, I downloaded it. The amount of files don't look so bad. I'll try it out. Thanks for the help!
