I'll be honest I have very very little knowledge of how AMD CPU's and GPU's work. So cannot really comment on how well it will perform.

In general though I think it should be capable of running GTA IV at the very least, even on lowest settings.

As for the second one you posted, that wont run GTA IV. Why? It has no dedicated graphics. It doesn't even say it has integrated graphics which intel normally do.

I would therefore safely say the second one probably isn't good enough.

Hope this helps, and I hope someone with knowledge of AMD chipsets can give you more advise :)

Oh ok thanks hopefully some can respond to your answer was helpful cause I saw somebody on YouTube using the first pc to play lcpdfr if you can please get someone to answer this question

Like the first guy, I'm not too sure either. PC desktop is the way to go.

My guess is you could run it though. Gaming on a laptop is just something that's really distracting and not meant to be.

You need to find something with 6 to 8 GB of RAM ,a Quad Core Processor, atleast a 1 GB to a 2GB graphics card, look for the bit of the card looks like this - 2048MB GDDR5 256bit Memory, the higher the bit the better the card.  Also if you get a bigger graphics card you will prolly need a power supply as well, it makes a huge differance. Gta iv is a memory hog and so is LCPDFR 1.0. Laptops are not a good way to make a gaming computer, you are better off just buying a desktop tower with the processor and motherboard you want, and just upgrade the graphics and ram! Hope this helps you.

No way in hell a dual core will run all these mods, Quad core or better for shure!

It'll be better in the long run to buy a desktop or build it up.

if you buy a desktop you can choose and change what parts you want. You can't do that with a laptop.

say if something in your desktop breaks.. You can replace it. But if it broke in a laptop.. Your only option is to buy a new laptop. Just save up your money and buy a PC that can run GTA 4 with medium settings (you don't exactly need a gaming beast to enjoy the game), and when you do get one that runs GTA on medium setting just save up and buy the parts you want to upgrade.

It's what i did with mine and my game works a lot better than a laptop

I got my PC when i was 13 and i paid for everything myself (my parents paid for my case), I'm 16 and i still buy my PC parts.

But if you want something to play on the go then the $499 would be better, 4gb of RAM will let you place at high setting, but if you put mods in it will lag (i currently have 4gb ram until i get my 8gb RAM in a couple days). the price range that will run GTA 4 without a doubt is between $500-$1000 some cheaper ones might play.. It all comes down to it's specs. Just google "GTA 4 PC specs" and find a laptop that's over the recommended requirements (you have to have a little bit over for the mods to run properly)

You should be fine if you get a desktop, even if you dont know how to change any parts or build a computer. If and when you get a desktop and need to change or upgrade parts, just look up a youtube video or two, its very easy just unplug the old parts and plug in the new one. Simple as that to upgrade a desktop!

  • 2 weeks later...

I can say that my laptop is complete crap and I can still run GTA IV at 20fps. You should be fine with that gaming PC. I would reccomend though that if your graphics card has only 1GB of ram use a command line.

Example: -availablevidmem 2.0

My Specs

Intel Pentium B960 @ 2.2GHz

8 GB RAM

Integrated Graphics

I do not recommend HP laptops, as I've seen many of them (literally) die on coworkers & friends hands. They're very badly manifactured.

In my personal opinion, ASUS makes the best laptops , quality / price speaking. Of course, if budjet is not a problem for you, there are many "gaming" brands with excellent products.

Whatever your choice is, keep in mind that is anyway preferable an aluminium case laptop: both for shocks restistance & natural facilitated cooling (overheating & ventilation is one of the biggest issue for pc components).

ps

Not doing Asus' advertising here, but these laptops are highlanders =)

They're the only ones to keep an everyday high stress usage (CAD, raster images modifying & laying out, renderings, etc...) without giving particular issues
