Has anybody seen this yet? I missed it the other night, so I'm recording it on my DVR since it's re-showing around 4am this morning, and I'll watch it tomorrow. Check out this trailer, I think it's great.

I knew from the first fricking frame of that trailer that I have to watch it. *Sigh* There goes my time again... Thanks for linking, it looks great. HBO has a good track-record, so it will be on my "must watch list".

No problem. I watched the first episode as soon as I got up today, and it was great. If the other episodes are anything like the first, it looks as though it's going to be a narrated look back at the past events around the 1995 murder. It constantly switches between events back then, and interview room footage of Woody Harrelson's and Matthew Mcconaughey's characters talking to newer detectives about those events, and the social problems between the two detectives that happened along the same timeline. It was a great way to let you know about who they really are. I also found out that it was filmed entirely on location too. Very authentic.

all i can say is.. It's not as good as SouthLAnd but it still seems pretty good, so i'll be watching it

Couldn't agree more, however, I feel like we should give this tv-series a shot. Looks like it's going to be a good series.

Not even Southland was that good to be honest. It had some pretty stupid stuff from time to time. We gotta remember though, they're only shows. Knowing Woody Harrelson and Mattew McConaughey are in this show, we should be in for a helluva ride.

believe it or not.. Some of that stupid stuff actually happens to cops from time to time, but yeah, it was a show.. and it was good.

 

i'm not comparing it to SouthLAnd, because well.. that and this are completely different, SouthLAnd focused more on patrol cops (featuring detectives.. they weren't as much in it as uniform) and this is more about the gritty crimes of a detective. this is still awesome and i will definitely be looking around to watch it online (sadly we don't have HBO here in Aus)

 

No, don't get me wrong. I do believe in some of the stuff that happens there and I liked it. You know, even some of the bad stuff that goes on.

 

Just some of the completely illogical things are that bug me, remember the episode with the bank robbery in progress? They (patrol officers) had been already shot at with an AK and there was a downed officer. They proceeded to take off their vests and even worse, put them on the squad car for their little rescue stunt. Leaving them in even more danger than before, not to mention, all the time could've been actually used in actually saving the sgt. Not to mention, putting up their vests around the car wouldn't do much in the first place, I'm fairly certain those AK rounds would cut through them like butter. It's just silly, ya know?

 

And yeah, there's no point really comparing these shows if one would want to. If you thought that's what I was doing, I'm sorry to come out like that. Not really what I supposed to do.

Yeah, I'm surprised they never got themselves killed. the doors on the car had bullet proof paneling so i understand they would've stopped the rounds, but the vests would've been torn apart. when they startd taking off their uniforms i was like "how is this gonna help" and when they put them on their patrol car.. well i just facepalmed xD

 

but anyways, SouthLAnd was a great show, this seems like a great show.. in my opinion this wouldn't be better than SouthLAnd but.. To be honest it's pretty close.

 

They should've had an LEO get shot during that just to make it so no cop would ever replicate it. I'm sure they know better not to do so though.

 

Can't wait for this show though.
