LCPDFR 1.0a (manual installation) keeps crashing

Featured Replies

Hey guys, as the title suggests, I got LCPDFR 1.0a but it keeps crashing after a while. Sometimes, after getting on duty, I can play for 30 minutes straight and other times for only 1 minute and this appears: "GTA IV has stopped working - Windows is looking for a solution". (I have Windows 8.1). And sometimes it works until I make a traffic stop or join a pursuit, in which the game crashes too (although this only happened once for each situation, so I don't think it's connected specifically with traffic stops or pursuits since I've done them already without any crash).

As I read on the troubleshooting, I have seen some cases similar to mine and I actually tried some solutions given but none of them seemed to work (for example, deleting the scripts that I have along with LCPDFR which are described on the diagnostic I made with the G17 diagnostics tool). I will attach the file along with the logs.

I am running the game as Admin and I already tried to uncheck "read only" on my GTA IV root, although when I click it again it shows "read only" checked so I don't know if it's unchecked or not.

I hope someone can be kind enough and try to help me, it would mean a lot to me since I basically bought a new PC to play LCPDFR.

Any suggestion will be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I think that is just a normal GTA IV crash, since 30 mins is pretty standard for most of us. To decrease crashes, you can try removing any heavy mods (ped/car mods) and decrease the in-game graphics values.

Thank you for a reply ineseri, from what I've seen from other topics, you are a really good person to try and help us. I don't have any ped or car mods but I do have graphic values set to High and Very High (water). But I wrote the topic because sometimes it's only 1 minute of gameplay and that is really annoying.

By the way, when I had 0.95, it also crashed after few minutes. And I could play 0.95 on a laptop for over 2 hours straight with no issues at all.

Oh I have the same issues. Sometimes I can play for 1 minute, and other days 2 hours. I would suggest lowering the water and shadow quality as a first step, since you don't often notice the water (atleast I don't) and shadows can be set to medium or high. They are really resource heavy.

Ah alright ineseri, I'll do as you said, also on the laptop, I played with low settings, just textures on medium.

Thank you a lot. You surely deserve the community award! :)

Well I always try to highlight the ones that deserve to be highlighted. ;)

Now I'll try and see how my police shift goes.

Well now everything was working perfectly until I had the "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: SMPA60". I went searching about it and it seems to be related with modded vehicles on parking spots of safehouses due to the savegame.

On my case it's very unlikely to have to do with this because as I said, I have no modded vehicles. Do you have any idea of what may have caused this error?

Ah yea, maybe. That was what I read in other forums as well. Firstly I thought it had to do with the lighting system of the police cars but since I wasn't using it at the moment of the crash.

I would ask for the topic to be closed, but since I don't know if a crash will happen again even with reduced graphic settings, it's better to keep it opened.

ineseri, I could play now for 50 minutes straight and only stopped the game (yes, I closed it myself) because it said that LCDPFR found an error when I was trying to respond to a drunk driver and it recommended to restart the game.

It also said to see my LCPDFR.log so I attached it here as well if you want to take a look.

Yea probably it couldn't put the call out in-game due to a lot of things already exposed.

By the way, if you enjoy football, Cristiano Ronaldo was just crowned the best player in the world! I'm proud to be portuguese!

Edit: As I went playing now, after few minutes of playing, I received the error that I have attached which I think it's an application error caused by not running the game as Admin, which I was, and that's why I don't get why I had this error.
