Hello,

I got a problem with GTA IV. Although I have a good PC my game has low FPS and FPS drops. I got and AMD FX 8320 8 x 3,5 GhZ, 8 GB RAM and HIS HD 7870 2048 MB.

In GTA everything is set to middle and the game uses 380 of 2048 MB. I only installed some car and ped mods + LCPDFR and Traffic Flow.

Can anyone help and maybe give me some tips for the commandline.

Using the command line things like memrestrict 0 won't do a lot given that you have 2GB of video memory and are using 380MB

you can turn vsync on, see if that helps.

Do me a favour, load gta iv, then go to display (or graphics) and click "benchmark" and run the benchmark test.

Post the results here.

You can find a file with all the results in to copy and past in My Documents > Rockstar Games > GTA IV> Benchmarks

Just off guesswork though I would say either your graphics card is very unhappy, or you have some seriously outdated drivers.

Alternatively you could have installed a dodgy car model, by that  I mean a badly make one that uses more than it needs to load it in.

but with a 2GB card you should be able to load every car in the game modded, with ENb and all sorts before you get fps drops.

I can't do the benchmark. When I click it, it loads and then the game crashes.

Yeah, I don't know why my game has low FPS. I looked at every car and ony choose one modded car with textures more than 1 MB and that is a 94' Caprice. The other models are less then 1 MB.

Hm that is weird. I have this one commandline, do you mind trying it out? It'll force the game to minimum settings.

-renderquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 -texturequality 0 -viewdistance 0 -detailquality 0 -novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -minspecaudio -novsync -renderquality 0 -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict

If you feel there's an improvement, try using this one instead:

-novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -novsync -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict

Let me know how it goes.

Ok, now the Benchmark worked with GTA IV where I installed more mods than in EFLC and where I can play maximal one hour after I get maximum texture loss.

Here is the benchmark:

Statistiken/statistics
Durchschnittliche FPS: 62.62
Dauer/duration: 37.75 Sek
CPU-Auslastung/CPU: 31%
Systemspeicher-Auslastung/system memory: 41%
Videospeicher-Auslastung/video memory: 18%

Qualität Wasse/waterr: Niedrig/low
Texturenfilter-Qualität/texture filter: Anisotropisch x2
Nachtschatten/night shadows: Aus
Sichtdistanz/view distance: 15
Detaildistanz/detail distance: 15

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

In EFLC I set everything on middle.

@inseri

I will test your commandline later, but thanks for it :)

It's no surprise your benchmark results are very good, using the lowest settings.

However something I find particularly intriguing, my benchmark tests for a 1GB graphics card with high settings on most gives me an average of 55fps, but with high memory usage. Your's with low settings is only performing slightly better than mine on high. That interests me because the higher the settings, obviously the more cpu and memory usage is required and thus the lower your fps will be.

Definitely run the command lines ineseri has given you and see how they affect your gameplay, and then get back to us with your opinions on how it ran afterwards. I'm mildly suspicious of a corrupt driver.

Ok, now I tested Inseri lines.

The first line was stable with 55 FPS but it crahsed with the message not enough video memory.

The second line was good with 45 FPS but after 30 seconds I got texture loss and everything was transparent and invisible.

After closing my GTA I got the message not enough system memory.

Now I will download a new driver for my graphic card.

Push?

I'm not sure your graphics card can handle the game to be honest, could be wrong though. The system out of memory error when exiting is caused by LCPDFR. It's not a issue.

I don't think this is a problem caused by his graphics card.

A quick google of the card he has reveals the following specs:

800MHz Clock Speed
2GB GDDR5 Memory
1200MHz Memory Clock Speed
153.6GB/s Memory Bandwidth
256-bit Memory Interface
Direct-X 11

I think there is a more internal error somewhere. But can't put my finger on it right now.

At the moment I think the best thing to do would be to completely wipe GTA from your system and start again from scratch, but don't install any car and ped models straight away.

Run LCPDFR on the new install of GTA IV on it's own and increase your game's default settings and see how it handles it FPS wise.

If it's stable then chances are you've got a really dodgy model somewhere causing issues.
