This is a little thing i thought about, out of curiosity and tested it, and sure enough, it works. If anyone doesnt already know this, It Can save them, ALOT of Time.

There is Two Parts to Saving time when editing Files, or Adding new scripts.

1.)No intro mod. ( This has been posted before i belive, just adding as an addition to my guide.

2.)Reloading a script specifically , instead of restarting your game.

1.) The no Intro Mod can be found at http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=9468 , a Readme is included, follow the instructions inside.

-This mod is very helpful as it speeds up the load process when first entering the game.

- I dont own this mod, nor do i take credit for it, Simply a Referral

2.) Number two on our list is the little discovery i just made, and the soul reason for this post, Many people may already know about it, as it seems almost common sense once you know about it, but chances are, youd never know on your own. if this post helps just one person, well than imo, the time for writing it is justified.

Reloading Scripts

-This, is the Ability to reload a script, without restarting your game, this will update any changes you have made to a .ini file (Config File) into your game without a restart.

- An Example is, In LCPDFR V.0.91, Alt p, is the is the command to go on duty, i Want to change that to Alt L , and can do so without restarting my game.

The Steps!

Step 1,(optional, But Highly Recommended)

-Make a Backup of all your Gta Files, I have a specified folder on my desktop For this, Inside there is a file called gta iv, this Contains Every file from the gta 4 directiory, Before any modifications or patching, as well as i have a seperate file folder with the default copy of every mod i have donwloaded,

Step 2, (Locating your .Ini File, config)

-For the purposes of this guide, we will change the "Go on Duty" Command to Alt+l, From the previous, Alt+p

Locate your Gta 4, Scripts Folder, (this Varies Depending on your operating System) For Windows 7, 64 Bit, it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\scripts

Step 3, Editing Your Config.

- To Change any commands in LCPDFR, the ini file we edit is called "Firstresponse" Typically the file extension is not shown on windows 7 for ini files, To be positive tat the file youve located is indeed the proper one, Right click on the file, Select properties, A winow will appear, Look for the Line that reads, "type of File" if it reads, Configuration settings(.Ini) youve found the Right File!!

- Once you have opened your file, Hit Ctrl+F, This will bring open a "find" window, for easily finding the command you wish to edit, Since we are trying to change the go on duty Command, we will Search, "Duty" as a keyword.

[CONTROLS]

'//----------------------------------------------------

'//The following are only triggered when pressed with ALT

'//For example by default ALT + P = GoOnDuty

'//----------------------------------------------------

Duty|GoOnDuty = p

Duty|ToggleStatus = F8

Arrest|FriskPed = R

Arrest|ArrestPed = H

Backup|CallBackup = B '//Press CTRL + ALT to call NOOSE backup or cTRL + ALT + SHIFT to call for medical assistance.

Misc|Coffee = O

Misc|Radio = I

Misc|Hat = U

Misc|CPR = M

This is what you should have found, as we see, Duty|GoOnDuty = p, and according to the header, all keys below are pressed with alt, so for go on Duty , we press "p"

Since this is the command we are trying to change, we now change it to our desired key , for the purpose of this demonstration, we will change it to L, As previously mentioned, now your Config should look like this.

[CONTROLS]

'//----------------------------------------------------

'//The following are only triggered when pressed with ALT

'//For example by default ALT + P = GoOnDuty

'//----------------------------------------------------

Duty|GoOnDuty = l

Duty|ToggleStatus = F8

Arrest|FriskPed = R

Arrest|ArrestPed = H

Backup|CallBackup = B '//Press CTRL + ALT to call NOOSE backup or cTRL + ALT + SHIFT to call for medical assistance.

Misc|Coffee = O

Misc|Radio = I

Misc|Hat = U

Misc|CPR = M

Notice the Previous, highlited in Blue, and the post highlited in red.

Step 4, Saving your file.

-As simple as this step may sound, it has a little twist to it, Since your Still running Gta IV, your not allowed to save the file in the folder where its located, and overwrite the previous Version, Why? Because the file is in use by GTA Iv, Therefor u cannot save it, What you must do is save this folder somewhere else, Your desktop for example.

-Once Saved to your desktop, Simply Move The Edited File, (the one on your Desktop) to the location of the old file, Because you are dropping a saved file ontop of an old one, the system will now allow you to overwrite your old config file, when promted if u would like to replace the old file, Select replace.

Step 5, Almost Done!

-The last Step requires you to go back into your game, Once inside your game hit the " ` " Key, this key is located to the left of the number one key, above the tab key on most generic Keyboards, Here is a picture for reference.

this Button will Bring up your Console window, in this window type "reloadscripts" exactly as show, you should notice in your console window there is a message telling you successfully loaded, now Tap your " ` " Again, to close the window.

Your Key is now Changed!! congrats, you don't need to View anymore of rockstars annoying pictures, or terrible choice of music, as well as you dont have to return to your safehouse.

These two simple methods can save you alot of time being out of the game, and alot more time spent playing, i know how frustrating it can be, when your in and out of the game a dozen times an hour, Thats why i wrote this guide, Hope this helps ! Cheers,

This is one of the great advantages of scripthookdotnet! Script crashes not game, reloadscripts to edit config or test new version, has console.

Yes! ive saved myself so much time already, testing new scripts out!
