I just use Windows Live Movie Maker for mine, as I don't have access to higher end software such as Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, etc.

Google search "how to make a youtube intro" and you'll get tons of results (mostly videos).

However, the video I linked you to above was the one I found that was the shortest and most helpful to me.

Intros before every video waste another 10  seconds of my time each time I watch. Make it an image with a 3 second sound clip if you're going to do one at all. Honestly I'd rather people not do them. Or put them at the end if you want so we don't have to watch them. I do that with most of my videos.

If you're still going to add an intro, it will have to be added into the video once done recording/ during editing.
