Anybody else missing IV's enterable buildings?

Featured Replies

Sooo, after some time in V, finishing the story, doing most of the strangers and freaks, doing leisure activities, a few hours of multiplayer and generally exploring the map, I'm kind of asking myself "So where are all the cool interiors?"

Because in my comparison, I think that IV had better enterable locations overall.

While V now has

- Awesome player houses (Michael's mansion especially)

- Supermarkets, liquor stores and gas stations

- Ammu-nation (which is a bit better that those backyard gun dealers in IV)

- an LSPD station (and that's kind of dissappointing. 1 out of 8 stations on the map enterable, with exactly enough interior for that one mission where you enter it)

- a bar out in Sandy Shores

- and a more detailed strip club (probably due to the fact SPOILER that it can become a player home SPOILER)

IV had

- still cool player homes (Playboy X's penthouse anyone?)

- Burger Shot, Cluckin' Bell, Diners, and SuperStar Cafes

- internet cafes

- a museum

- a lawyer's office

- Faustin's club

- hospitals (although there was only one interior, at least they put it in every hospital on the map)

- bowling alleys, a bar for darts and two strip clubs

- and, finally many apartment blocks that could be entered (even though there wasn't more than the stairs and maybe one open apartment, but it was still nice to have)

Both of course also had mission specific interiors, that were locked after that specific mission, like the hotel in IV and so on. I didn't put these on the list since I'm only talking about the interiors that you can enter anytime (I don't know if the lawyer's office can be entered without LCPDFR installed, for the museum I know that there is an open back door)

All in all, I think IV offered better diversity in its choice of enterable buildings. And, to be honest, I did expect V to have more enterable locations rather than removing some of IV's (fast food restaurants, hospitals...).

Of course that's probably because V is pushing the consoles to their limit, but I'm still not sure for myself if I wouldn't have preferred a 10% smaller map with more enterable locations to visit. You know, for example a bar in Paleto Bay for that break from driving all around the map, a motel by the side of the highway, where you'd get a save spot and medpack for 25$ just like in RDR, an actual night club in Los Santos (the Tequi-La-La opened for one mission with Trevor and has been locked ever since), a difference between the hospitals in LS and the smaller, rural ones in Blaine County...

Also, there is already a complete bank interior in GTA Online, probably for future heists, that makes me kinda wonder if R* didn't cut back on the singleplayer in order to finish GTAO.

What do you guys think?

I also think that Rockstar focused more on Gta Online than single player. They could easily made more missions for single player. GTA Iv had 80 or something but GTA V has 69, I just don't get it. I expected more from GTA V

Yeah, me too. It's still an awesome game, and the storyline is cool, but it seems somewhat... rushed compared to IV.

After all, it has three main characters instead of one when at the same time it has 69 missions instead of 87. There's just no room to really introduce any of the secondary characters, in my opinion.

There's no Roman, no Little Jacob, no Brucie, no Packie...

An example for rushed storytelling (in my opinion):

You meet Martin Madrazo. You pay for his house. You do ONE mission for him, and Trevor already goes nuts and abducts the wifey.

Compare that to Faustin. It's more or less the same situation: He's angry because Nico shot Vlad, he has a wife that he abuses, and in the end Nico turns on him. But it's not done in two missions.

This is exactly what I mean! Its like they have made a car without seats, it has now enjoyment. The game is fun but the story is not.

I enjoyed it but a lot of the story had a pointless feel to it, the Madrazo element in particular had a weak feel and I expected more missions  given that Trevor kidnapped the wife. Even if it was something expected like linked battles with Madrazo goons. There are some cool story elements that I liked but some of them felt like wasted opportunities to do more.

well muiltplayer is a big part for GTA thats is most likely why there was 68 missions because they had HUGE plans for gat online

I agree however they could at least have added the seats into the car (referring to one of my previous posts). They missed an opportunity to add some really great missions e.g. Martin Madrazo becoming a massive character to overcome with an option to kill or save, you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong here, it is one of the best games I have played but they focused on everything else rather than the story.

Agreed. A lot of the particluar story arcs inside the storyline felt way too short in my opinion.

I mean, look at Johnny Klebitz. Wasting a badass biker character for a 2 min sequence. And then like three missions against the Lost MC.

Or, even more than Madrazo, that gang guy who betrayed Lamar. I even forgot his name already. Showing up, going on one mission with Franklin, then completely disappearing for the next 30 missions, and then showing up again just in time to betray Lamar and become Franklin's "Nemesis" to be taken out when you choose ending C.

Everything else rather than the story and the interiors I'd say

I thought that there was a Strangers and Freaks mission that allowed you to get Packie for heists in SP?

I did that one. I think that was a random encounter.

When i wrote no Packie, no Brucie etc., I wanted to express that V's secondary characters are (in my opinion) not as well written as IV's. I didn't mean it literally as in "Packie isn't in the game". Sorry for the misunderstanding.

GTA 5 has an enterable police station? Which one?

An LSPD station close to the textile factory where Lester has set up shop.

However, it's kind of small, as I wrote in my first post. It's basically just the entrance with a counter and some seats. You can see some other rooms through glass windows, but the doors to them are locked. You can just enter a staircase to the helipad on the roof, but that will get you three stars.

There is actually a story mission where you enter it.

In one of the missions to get the expensive cars for Devin, you have the opportunity to play as Trevor and use the camera in an LSPD heli to guide Franklin to the car. When you start the mission as Trevor, you'll go to the station to board the heli.

Actually, I was dissapointed by IV's main storyline. Only TboGT made me smile and enjoy the game. The point is - wait for DLCs. They might even itrosuce some more interiors and activities.

I'm hoping for some cool stuff there. IV DLCs had Tony's two night clubs, they had Bahama Mamas (which was in my opinion much more awesome than the other two, and then closed after one story mission - that was annoying) and probably some more I can't remember now.

This'll be a pretty long post covering various points, so I'll place them in small headers.

Interiors

I'm actually not too concerned over the lack of interiors because I know that Rockstar have used some form of wizardry to get a game of this graphical and hardware intensive size onto current generation consoles, its nothing short of spectacular and I cannot wait to see what plans they have for the next installment on the newer generation of consoles.

Story Length

I'm pretty disappointed with the length of the story in the game, I feel like I wasn't given the time to learn and appreciate each of the three main characters, it all felt very.. rushed and followed the same GTA gimmick of "Drive here, shoot this guy, steal this thing" albeit with some variation although I will admit I quickly grew fond of Michael due to the incredible writing and motion-captured animations, the characters felt very life-like which helped connect me with them.

Online

It took me about two days of non-stop trying to get into online and passed that damn buggy tutorial mission which shouldn't need other players to pass anyway. But once I got passed it, it was amazing. I was lucky enough not to lose my character during the massive Cloud Server failures, my only gripe is that when lag hits, it hits HARD. I've seen cars speed past me as if they were rockets. Payouts seem to be broken (friends who've done less than me in a mission get paid more than me) and Passive Mode needs an update so that other players cannot kill you AT ALL whilst its enabled.

Overall though, its easily one of the best games I've ever played and I think it just took home Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards.

In GTA IV there were to many missions where you just had to kill anyone. Now in GTA V there are too less in my opinion. Trevor could do more :D

From the enterable buildings I really miss Cluckin Bell and Burgershot, it's great to go there as a cop

That's really a good thing IMO. Remember that heist of Bank of Liberty? Hey yo lets hit the bank and just kill everyone it's so funny ain't it. Now you can choose and at least try to spare some lives. Yeah, I don't like to kill people :(

And still, about those interiors... There's more than interiors in V. IV was focused on the city, so there had to be many interiors just to make exploring interesting. Here, in San Andreas, it's entertaining just to drive around and looking.Take Surfer, check Chiliad...

-snip

Came here to say this. Story felt a bit rushed, don't get me wrong. It was a great story, but it ended way to fast IMO. Michael is my favorite character, just like Harper said because of the good writing and immersive animations.

And yes, I do miss some interiors, but GTA V is immense, even without interiors.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium
