hey guys im looking for a relatively cheap gaming desktop between 500 and 1000 dollars. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. i have no clue wat im looking for in specs so if could you just recommend what you think is best?

That thread is now locked.

Still, OP, read through it. There are some good tips in there. Post here if that did not help you.

Also, when you say 'cheap' you are aware that performance will take a considierable hit. You get what you pay for. If you want the performance to play GTA IV, you will need to spend quite a lot. My advise is to find some parts that you like and build your own, or have a company build it for you. When buying a pre-assembeled computer you are paying for more than the actual computer parts.
Almost no computer comes with a monitor (except packages) but most companies can give you a reduced price on some select monitors, including mouse and keyboard.

hey guys im looking for a relatively cheap gaming desktop that comes with a moniter. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? keep in mind I want to play multiple games and have good specs!

I am not a 'computer person', but in order to get the most 'bang for your buck' I highly recommend buying the parts individually and building them yourself. This website is also pretty 'accredited' and is reasonably priced. It list pre-built computers and parts.

- Lastly I suggest you change your original post and give a price range instead of just saying "relatively cheap"

Hope I helped,

Yes, you also need to tell us what you plan to get out of your system. For about 1200 dollars you can get a 1080p rig, or for 800 a 1080 (lowered settings/720p higher settings) rig.

Handsup has a good point, what do you plan to get out of your system? Also how experienced are you with computers, like overclocking? Is that something you are interested in? Are you planning on recording your gameplay? Plus do you prefer AMD or Intel?

Hmm then building you a rig for games like that shouldn't be difficult and won't be overly expensive. Intel's tend to be better for people who don't over clock and just want to play and do what ever they want. AMD you can overclock the crap out of, in most cases they can blow away most intel's if overclocked right. Plus AMD is cheaper and you generally feel better about overclocking a 200-300 dollar chip than an 600-1000 dollar chip lol.

Anyways, you do know how to put together a computer and buy parts individually right? If you do then great, you will be able to get the most bang for your buck. Plus you might learn a thing or two and get to set up things your own way, and the way you like it.

I've gone so far as to designing my own computer case, I've bought sheets of aluminium and carbon fiber, gonna completely build my own case.

Anyways, you are just interested in playing games like GTA IV and minecraft? What are a few of the other games, out of curiosity? Also I'm guessing you don't make/render 3d models or video? Also what kind of quality are you interested in?

I am buying the parts and with the help of my brother who owns a business repairing computers will assemble it. My price so far is up to about $800 not including tax or shipping.I am pretty picky though, the case alone is a couple hundred bucks so I could ease up and probably trim a few hundred off that and end up with a very nice system.

Your case is more then a hundred dollars?? Holy crap! I mean mine is but I've got sheets of carbon fiber I'm gonna make as a shell.

I agree, my brother has told me time and time again that it is overboard, I don't even remember what it is now but pretty sure its on my newegg wishlist He keeps telling me to just use my current case and change the guts to save a lot of money. I will probable not do that but before I finally order everything more than likely I will just stick with a cheap $40 case. Not sure I will be downgrading any other items though as they will all affect performance.

Yeah, if you've got a dream system or a system you like and think is good for you then great don't change it, but the case lol. I wouldn't say go cheap on the case cause you want your expensive 'baby' (lol) to look nice siting on your desk or next to your feet haha, or at least I would. Plus you need to make sure that airflow and cooling is considered when buy a case, weight, and size too.

I am not sure I am worried to much about weight or size........ or not sure I should be. Air flow for sure is a consideration. As it stand now I have to turn my fans up all the way and set the AC down to 70 just to keep my system cool while playing games. I purchased this one news "prebuilt Walmart special" in 2007 and have since upgraded it as far as it can go. Cooling as been an issue since day one. In fact my first upgrade was a new AC heatsink and fan but I don't want to hijack a thread so I will get back on point. I feel for $1,000 you can build something that will deal with most anything you toss at it........... for the time being at least, even at the lower end of $500 you can probably peace something together better than what I have.

Oh alright then......... your probably going to be best looking for a pre-built or barebone pc from newegg that is just missing a PSU or something small and easy to install.
