I am currently installing Windows 8 Developers Build, I will post my opinions on it when I'm done.

Can't seem to get Wi-Fi on virtual machine. No internet = no Windows activation = most features locked

Start menu changed dramatically, sort of better and somehow not.

Task manager looks better.

Performance is great, boot took 25-30 seconds

The development preview doesn't need to be activated ..

Still trying to get it to work with VMWare, but from the plans I've heard Microsoft have for it, I'm probably going to stick with W7. They're trying to make it look more like Mac, with an App Store etc. and a more closed environment. Or actually, I think they're making it look like their W7 Phones, and do not want.

And yes, you can disable the "tab" part of the OS, but a PC should never run the same OS as a goddamn tablet, imo.

And its going to be harder to develop applications, since people is going to expect everything to be spoonfed to them.

BTW; Does anyone know where to enable ACPI in VMWare 8?

Ditto, W8 looks as rubbish as Ubuntu's Unity desktop is.

You are using the WRONG right theme!

I heard a rumor that Lion and Windows 7 were going to be the last "desktop like" OS's made. I heard that Apple and Windows are both transitioning to an iOS and Windows Phone sort of look for their desktop operating systems. Just a rumor I heard on either Engadget or Gizmodo but it seems like that's what's happening.

Like it or not, this is where the industry is heading. They'll probably revert back to an older style desktop in Windows 9 with some tablet elements after all the complaints come rolling in, but people who don't want to buy the next copy of Windows aren't doing themselves any favors by waiting other than saving $130 on the new modular upgrade.

Windows 8 Developers Build DOES require activation over internet to activate most features like Personalize and stuff.

I love W7 and I'm gonna stick with it for a looong time. Best OS i had since w7 was XP, and still wish i could get XP instead of W7... can't even play my favorite game in here. Upgrading to W8 will mean less games working IMO, and if they changed the interface, even less.

But you have to think whenever they come out with a new OS it always takes them a year or more to get all the bugs worked out, Im fine with 7,for now anyways
