Please post PC-specs and list of installed mods. When you uninstall the game from steam, make sure to delete the game directory before installing it again (steam may fail to do this sometimes).

Uncheck the read-only on GTA IV folder and run the game as administrator.

Tried That....No Luck

I had downloaded gta iv from a torrent, I had the same error. Then When I went to buy the disc it worked, been working fine since then

ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVENT PIRATED THE GAME?

He said it was from steam, he has no reason to lie about it really. But yes, if it's pirated: Nothing will work properly.

Go to steam right click then click propities then click local tab then verfiy files then after it does that it should download what u need then it should work

First run the LCPDFR installer as Admin, and make sure root GTAIV folder you're installing to is not read-only (from previous post, looks like you did uncheck the read-only for the root folder).

If that don't work, run the Diagnostic Tool, located at the bottom of the download section, and post the results.

Try those simple solutions and download latest scripthook.

  • Make sure you aren't using a crack - We don't support cracks
  • Update GTA IV to 1.0.7.0 (the latest version of the game, or 1.1.2.0 for EFLC) - This sometimes fixes a wide variety of issues
  • Make sure that you run the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that your GTA IV root folder (and every subdirectory) is not set to "read-only"
  • Ensure that FirstResponse.net.dll is in the SCRIPTS folder and that AdvancedHook.dll is in the GTA IV ROOT folder.
  • Ensure that ScriptHook.dll, ScriptHookDotNet.asi and Dsound.dll OR Xlive.dll are in the GTA IV ROOT folder
  • Ensure that there is a folder titled 'LCPDFR' in the SCRIPTS folder.
  • Check that all the above files exist, if they do not, reinstall LCPDFR with the automatic installation.
  • Ensure that you are using up to date versions of every LCPDFR dependency and LCPDFR itself.
  • Install these: http://www.microsoft...9f-b21f31ab88b7http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en
  • Run a diagnostic report (found here:  title="">http://www.lcpdfr.co...agnostics-tool/) which will point any errors it can find and will be used later on if you need to post a topic.
