I would love to go on a ridealong with a police officer. But they don't allow it in Australia, All because of Occupational Health and Safety -.-

I would go to America JUST to go on a ridealong xD

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

That sucks! But yea its definitely a very cool and interesting experience. I always look forward to the day I get to do another one until the time comes that I finally get to do it myself.

I've been on 20, the latest one this week.

The fun thing about my 20th ridealong is it was 20 hours. 2 Full shifts, Day and swing. I had an absolute blast. Had to pay for 3 meals, but still had fun seeing the difference between beats.

I've only rode with mountain town PD's outside of my explorer program, and I wouldn't take one back if I had the chance.

As for some calls, some stand out.

Fatal car accidents are always a little rough. I've been on a couple and they get real gorey real fast, especially when ambulances have to be dispatched out and are 5, 10+ minutes out.

Being an explorer here means you go out to every call. One of the funniest calls I went out on was a cold suicide. We roll up to this house expecting to see some distraught mother finding her dead son in the bathroom, but it was actually a juvenile who called in about a MOVIE.

Some funny traffic stops would have to be a slow speed pursuit with a Prius for about 5 miles. Dude was sober as a judge, nothing in the car, just "didn't see our lights"

Another traffic stop we were doing radar up and down the main street, and another unit was off to the side of the road speed trapping. A car comes up to us and flashes his brights to warn us about the speed trap. (All the Tahoe's for this particular department are slicktops, so he didn't know we were a cop) We pull him over, and the dudes a cop for a big city department! Really bro?

Another time we were speed trapping, and the chief sees us before we see him, and fly's down the road about 20 over. We get behind him all excited (first stop of the night) And he just turns on his lights and laughs.

Another night I was going to state's "chiefs dinner" and on the highway an Accord rolls by about 10 chiefs doing 90. They all almost hit each other trying to pull him over, and he was D.U.I.

I wish we had ridealongs here in Ontario but we can't have them because there was a high speed chase on the highway and the officer had a ridealong with him. Basically the chase ended in a very large crash and the person on the ridealong died and the officer had bad brain damage.

Nope, you can go for a ride along with York Regional Police.

Okay my mistake but I know there are still quite a few police agencies who are not doing them including mine.
