And they wanted me to update everything,  Fine

 

The problem is they want me to use my real name and are trying to force me to I'm trying a couple of nice names to see if they'll except it like my name here K-9 Police 9

 

 

That's a big No No as I'm literally on the next step and in the interview stage with a couple of Police Departments 1 being a state police department  and I can not afford to have my real name out there like that on some google / youtube page

 

 

 

Any Real World Police Officers or Police Departments reading this if I eventually have to use my real name how's this gonna look during background check's etc having a page in my name?

Will it effect me any negatively ?

No my profile forced me to I hadn't logged in in like a month  and then they send an email saying sorry that name is no good change or appeal within 4 days or have your account suspended

Okay that is weird, though it is all linked to Gmail now, so is the name on your Gmail like K 9 Police? If so that may be the reason, Try Caynine Police as an example.

As for the real names thing. That's why I have a psudonym ready to use.

It didn't used to require one, but now it's all tied in together, you MUST have a gmail to make a Youtube isn't it? I'm not 100% clear on the details or how it works

I'm pretty sure you have to have one now. I recall having to set a Google Username (A Gmail account) when I created my newer accounts but that wasn't the case on my old account. 

I know I had to link my gmail and Youtube together a while back...so there is that to it.

But is it really that hard to create a new Gmail with a fake name and reupload the vids to that channel?

I am pretty sure you can go to your settings and detach your gmail account, I did that, I had the same problem, I have an account name and it is not my real name, Just browse through account settings, I am certain its a check box or something.

I've had a GMail account since it was an invite-only beta. I also created a YouTube account right about the time it boomed, in 2006. Google wants me to merge the accounts fully, using my real name for an account name now. I've opted not to. I no longer have the option of signing in under my screen name, I have to use my e-mail now (I have no idea why that would make a difference to Google, I think they're just trying to inconvenience me to the point of me caving in) to log in, but I kept my screen name.
