Computer for Gta 4/LCPDFR

Recommended Posts

Im looking to get a new computer to run GTA 4 and lcpdfr

Im trying to decide between these two computers...what do you guys think?

Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition

  • 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM processor (6MB cache, up to 3.2 GHz)
  • 8GB5 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
  • AMD Radeon™ HD 7730M 2GB Video Card
  • NO Number Pad

or

Hp Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad Edition

  • 3rd generation Intel® Core i7-3610QM Processor (2.3 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache)

  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 630M Graphics with 1GB GDDR3 memory [HDMI, VGA]
  • 8gb ram
  • 750gb hard drive
  • blu ray and beats audio
  • Numpad

Does lcpdfr need a num pad(this does make a difference as to which computer i choose)

I would pick the HP because I personally think HP is a better brand just because I have 3 HP laptops in my house and we have no problems. Also GeForce video cards are better then AMD. I would also prefer the numberpad because you are probably going to use Simple Native Trainer(SNT) to spawn vehicles, change characters, etc. and the keys to work that are used on the numberpad. Get the HP!!

I suppose you are correct about the Nvidia Geforce cards are better than AMD cards. I have a Nvidia card myself. And without a numpad it would be a pain to try to get the trainer to work. I change my mind! Get the HP!!

Yea haha. I love Nvidia Graphics cards. I have a Nvidia GeForce 660 ti 3gb and it runs GTA:IV on max settings. Check out the picture I put up off my graphics in my album.

I wish my 550 TI could do that. I'm saving up for a 770 or 780 that they recently released. Anyways, I feel as if we are hijacking this guys post.

I want a GTX 690 because it has the best performance in GeForce cards but I don't have the money for that now and yes we are :)

You guys are all good haha!!

So the hp has the power to run the game on medium to high graphic settings (with a reasonable frame rate)?

Well, I have a friend that I play with that has a GT 630M. Go check out his YouTube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/BEP2009JET

Just check out one of his videos and see how it runs. As a matter of fact, I think he has the exact same computer. His videos are a good example of what you should expect with the 630M. Don't look at his older videos because he didn't have the same laptop at the time.

To be honest i don't know if it does, 1Gb memory cards sometimes struggle to reach that higher resolution and still perform good. The processor on the HP seems alright enough to run it.

I would say that you could reach around 25-30fps on low-medium settings, possibly more. But that's just my opinion and i don't know crap about PCs and how GTA IV runs.

I'm pretty sure the HP will run GTA smooth on Medium-High settings. If you know the Makinith29, he makes LCPDFR videos on YouTube, I'm pretty sure he has a HP laptop and it runs GHTA good.

I have a question. How much are you looking to spend on a PC?

Up to 1100 or 1200 if necessary

I also have one more question...is it easier to run lcpdfr and mod gta 4 itself on windows 7 or 8?  Found a more powerful computer that has windows 8 instead of 7

It doesn't matter. I have no problems running LCPDFR on Windows 8.

If you want to play GTA:IV get a desktop honestly.  You will have much better performance.  I have the 15r and can barely run GTA on the lowest settings.

Yea but he's not spending a lot and a laptop with a Nvidia Video Card would run it fine.

Ok, because i heard in order to make it work, you had to change the compatibility mode to windows vista service pack 2.

did you have to do this?  If not, what did you do?
